The stewards got it right per the rules but really they’ve not been strict to enforce the rules on a regular basis. Tom Queally probably thought he got away with it. This has led to a lack of clarity with regard to these rules and thats why we have this forum topic to begin with.

I’m a Fencing Master fan. I saw him in the post race gallops at the Curragh recently and he looks like he has really developed physically over the Winter. He was a noteworthy second in the Dewhurst which was amazing given his inexperience. It’s debatable whether he’d have the sharpness to win the race but I’d rather be on him than SNA who is a ridiculous short price. He won a slowly run Racing Post trophy and is being over hyped by the Racing Media who are desperate for another STS.

I’d be with wallace on this one. I’m not a fan of AL and Brian O’Connor is only marginally more negative about racing in Ireland.

Is there any bookies doing special offers on the race? Like if SNA wins, they’ll refund losing bets?

Something new and fresh is needed. ATR could just regionalise their channel (one for Irish audience, one for UK audience). Plenty of other channels do this at present. SKY do it so to show Irish adverts in Ireland and UK adverts in UK. ATR could produce an Irish version of the channel which would give us the coverage our racing warrants and deserves. Split screening our races with a 6F handicap from Wolver! Who are they kidding!

Murphy looked in super form last night. Won 8 Frames on the bounce. I backed him at 20/1 and think he has a great chance. O’Sullivan’s attitude doesn’t seem right and he has to be on top form if he is going to win. So I’d be layer of him at the minute.

Paddy Power and setantabet.com refunded all bets on Twist Magic multiples and singles. Boyles refunded all single bets on Twist Magic too. Just shows Irish bookies are a step ahead of the English ones.

In Ireland, the recently launched Irish RP is the dogs boll**. They’d previously neglected our meetings in the UK edition but now they are pride of place. We’ve a brilliant bloodstock supplement on a Thursday and a really interesting Point to Point supplement on a Wednesday. Point to Point racing has appealed to me but it was always poorly covered and hard to find out what going on and where.

O’Regan will link up with a top trainer in no time and Johnson will be going through jockeys like pairs of socks.

David Duggan on ATR has just excused the ride on the grounds that it was "with the long term in mind, which is always best".

That’s presumably the long term of Fame And Glory and his connections, not Irish racing.

    "Irish Racing"

    is

those connections, more or less – once you’ve taken out the Asian and Arabic support. Mr Duggan was wise in his observation.

Harsh Pinza, what about me! I’ve a tenth share in a 2 year old with real prospects this year and we bought a NH yearling at Goffs for €3k in December! Watch this space.

Looks like Denman goes to Punchestown which will be a good yardstick to measure Joncol against. Weapons Amnesty is another you would have high hopes for though I just don’t like his trainer.

Not saying beef or salmon wasn’t good, but he definitely wasn’t great. Great horses win at Cheltenham in the most competitive championship races of the year.

Surely Denman won’t make Punchestown with the forecast at the minute? The course are only planning a light watering but the ground must be drying out fast? I do think Joncol can put it up to him if they do meet, Joncol is Ireland’s best hope of a top class decent staying chaser at the minute since…………….well when did Ireland really have a top class decent staying chaser?

    Beef Or Salmon…

His inability to perform at Cheltenham I think rules him out of the ‘top class’ division. The top class horses have to be able to perform anywhere and he was so disappointing at Cheltenham.

Just saw it for the first time expecting to disagree with the "carpers" but it did look bad. Whether he’s a "whip horse" or not one or two cracks wouldn’t have gone astray and IMO under more vigorous hand riding even he would have nearly won. The deafening silence on it from any of our racing press has also been interesting- if not for this what are those opinion pieces by Messrs Sweetman and O’Hehir in the Post for?

Alan Sweetman wrote about it in his ‘Ireland’s Eye’ column in the post yesterday. His analysis is poorer than anything on these forums though

This has been a cause of frustration for me also. RUK SKY customers can free online access to RUK. Because I’m cable I can’t. I’d have to pay another 10 quid a month to enjoy online access. I love the service and think it’s coverage is better than ATR but I won’t be ripped off either. Hopefully they can get it sorted if enough people complain.

Ah yes, I remember that run, rounded off by that 1 nil win at Old Trafford when Overmars scored the winner. Didn’t know Fred had paid out early though. Glorious days they were indeed. I can’t see Arsenal getting involved in this title race unfortunately, I’d expect us to drop 2 points against Spurs tomorrow.
