An ‘environmentally friendly community’. Fat chance of that ever happening! The vast majority of the native population are sick to death of watching large swathes of the
‘environment’ being concreted over. If you live in the South East you’d realise that the infrastructure is almost beyond braking point and what it doesn’t require is hundreds of thousands of more homes. And of course we all know the reason behind what’s fuelling this demand.

Here’s an idea. Dig up Kempton’s AW course and replace it with a turf track. You could have some decent flat races on that!

Today Nicholls became the 3rd trainer this season to have a winner in every class/grade.

Mullins moved up to 59th overall place and has the same amount of points as Curtis on 26 pts. Curtis has had 2 more winners than Mullins.

The aerial shot of these fatal falls won’t do racing any favours having a clear view of the stricken horse & jockey.

Would Redrow want the publicity of being the company that built over such an iconic & historic racetrack that dates back to the 19th Century where horses such as Arkle, Dessie & Kauto have strutted their stuff?

Perhaps they don’t care and have no interest in racing but their name will be forever synonymous for building over part of racing’s rich heritage.

And this doesn’t mean that we should forget the role The Jockey Club and Government will have played in this.

It doesn’t help when high profile trainers such as Dan Skelton just shrug their shoulders. Has he ever had a top class winner there? What if the Jockey Club wanted to concrete over Warwick racecourse?Just thankful he wasn’t training in the 1970s when the threat of the bulldozers at Aintree was ever present.

Kempton is the closest course to our capital city and perhaps one of the reasons attendances have dwindled (no thanks to The Jockey Club not investing in the course) is the rapidly changing demographic in the last 20 years. Have a look at any racecourse and tell me how diverse the crowd is?

Sandown is no substitute for Kempton especially in the Winter months. Sandown’s hurdles course is nearly always a slog and won’t take many more meetings.

If racing sacrifices a Grade 1 track (probably one of the fairest tracks in the UK) and with the amount of history Kempton holds then all those involved should hang their heads in shame.

One of the good things to come out of Covid was the massive prices being offered on outsiders in maiden/novice races. Was it such a massive shock though? No runners from the top dozen yards in the UK on hock deep ground.

I do listen to a number of non racing podcasts (all thanks to Covid) but the only racing one I listen to on a regular basis is the Nick Luck Daily. Chapman appears on that too but Jane Mangan is my favourite guest.

If you’re interested in True Crime I would definitely recommend listening to the podcast Sea of Lies.

So far it has. Skelton averages 3.81 points per win. Owen just 2.67 per win as he picked off the early season Class 4 & 5 races.

Henderson in 10th place averages 3.71 per win so not far behind Skelton when it comes to class of winner.

Nicholls averages 3.88 so is outdoing both of them.

Thank you VF. Following the sport over many years Mighty Man was in my top 5 of favourite horses. I’m sure he would have won a Gold Cup had he stayed sound.

Henry Daly’s Mighty Man the more than useful staying hurdler jumped fences for the first time aged 9. Won 2 novice chases and then disappeared again. Remarkable he even returned after such a serious injury at Punchestown in 2007.

I know this is a CH thread but does anyone know what became of Mighty Man?
