A huge horse for a 5 year old. Ran in the bumper today at Uttoxeter and was a fine example of a horse who should keep improving throughout its career. Being a half-brother to Torche, he is likely to need further in time but he may be able to land a small bumper before embarking on his career over obstacles. A lovely big chestnut, he is built for fences, and I would be disappointed if he doesn’t prove to be at least as good, if not better, than his half brother Torche.

Zaffas Melody ran at haydock on Thursday in the bumper. He led the field at a slow gallop, but, instead of making his obvious stamina count, Scudamore waited until about 3f out, where the race would turn into a sprint, which would really not suit the horse, and he got outpaced before staying on (for 5th?). He is still one to follow, and, even though he may win a bumper, he is certainly a long term prospect.
