Does anyone else find themselves, every now and again, spending hours watching videos on youtube on a topic they’d previously never really looked into? If so what topics/hobbies/things?
The last week I must have spent at least 20 hours watching videos/short documentaries about climbing catastrophes on Mt Everest and K2 detailing how people have died on different expeditions since mountaineering began. As well as similar formatted videos about people who have died while exploring caves, and you guessed it, detailing how exactly they died.
Am I sick in the head?
Stupid question, I know I am.
April 7, 2022 at 00:55 #1591573Wikipedia is another great rabbit hole, you can end up in some dark places from the most innocuous of starts.
Mostly use youtube for music and old sport videos. Do love sitting there of an evening getting slowly pissed and listening to whatever music it throws at you. Can happily do that till the sun comes up if I have no responsibilities the next day.

Constantly happen to me. Last week a video of a boxer dog being groomed came up on my recommended clips. ‘Girlwiththedogs’. I’ve now subscribed, and watched each and every video (loads) on this professional grooming ladies channel! Its strangely relaxing.

April 7, 2022 at 01:03 #1591577Haha Richard funny you say that about Wikipedia, I was scrolling through the wikipedias of Blenheim Palace, Ian Curtis and Fred Riley (Augusta Nationals Chairman) earlier, for no real reason other than curiosity lol, time can be killed far too easily these days especially when we actually do have responsibilities the next day lol I’m terrible for it, always distract myself from what I should be doing.
April 7, 2022 at 01:04 #1591578I’m not terribly adventurous, I’m afraid.
I tend to use YouTube for listening to old music and watching clips from old races and TV Shows from my youth – the USA comedy Seinfeld being a recent example.

That’s hilarious Tatling I love the randomness of it lol, I was recommended a video of a 4m Hunter Chase in Maryland, USA from 2015 earlier, I proceeded to watch the 2016, 2017 and 2018 runnings as well after that

I discovered Bobby Darin the other night while randomly browsing, I’ve heard Beyond The Sea and Dream Lover since my childhood but never knew who their singers were, seems like he was a real Sinatra/Elvis type! What a man, they don’t make them like him any more, my word I wish music was still made like this!
April 7, 2022 at 01:10 #1591583Don’t know if it’s on Youtube but ‘Control’, the biopic of Ian Curtis, is well worth a watch.
And on the subject of Augusta, good luck on the Masters if you’re punting. Tiger couldn’t again could he? I fear not this time.

hahaha I love it, it’s so weird what we can suddenly find fascinating.
And the Yank Hunter Chase certainly is!

Cheers mate our media teacher in college made us watch this over 10 years ago now, but I forgot all about the poor man and for some reason he popped into my head so felt the urge to do some research on him lol god knows why.
With the Masters, I wouldn’t bet on Tiger but he’s not the type you’d ever want to lay either!! I won’t be betting on it this year so it’ll probably be actually really enjoyable and relaxing to watch without getting p*ssed off that my guys hit it into the water lol.
April 7, 2022 at 01:29 #1591589I have no idea how I ended up watching the below – I think it was a rabbit hole of traveller bare-knuckle challenges I fell down after watching a Tyson Fury Presser! But the below childish, yet succesful, wind-up of an angry old boy is one of my go-to clips for a grin. I absolutely love it!

April 7, 2022 at 14:41 #1591741I recently found myself watching countless videos of bullfrogs during feeding time. These creatures eat all kinds of live prey and swallow them whole. It’s astonishing just how they fit everything into their bellies.
Also, watching man’s earliest attempts to fly with strange inventions was hilarious.

Great shouts!! That chap that tried to jump off the Eifel Tower!!! Madness!!!! wtf was he thinking haha.
I love the randomness of bullfrugs during feeding time, had no idea they could do that! Speaking of aniamls, this one was suggested to me last night, it’s two ant colonies having a full on Russia/Ukraine war to the death! No idea how they managed to film it all

Sounds excellent that. I may follow you down.

That was on my recommendeds last week. Probably as I watch plenty of animal clips, including copious amounts of dog grooming of course.
