I just realised I made up a sort of modern day proverb while posting on TheTinMan’s thread when I said, “Tis a rare punter who knows his weaknesses, and a rarer one who acts on them”. Not quite a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, but it set me wondering what proverbial advice might come from this forum’s wise heads?
I eagerly await a few from gamble.

Tis a rare punter who knows his weaknesses, and a rarer one who acts on them.

To come out alive, intacta, and with spoils from the betting markets often known as the bear pit or shark pool, you need the five virtues.
The cunning of a fox
The wiseness of an owl
The obstinacy of a mule
The patience of a tortoise 🐢
and above all the generosity of spirit of a dolphin.September 28, 2023 at 07:52 #1664637The surrealism of a gamble
The reasonableness of a Richard
The eclecticism of a Gladders
The narcissism of a Chezza
The terror of the notorious BigG/HDLG Brothers (they run Glasgow)There’s five to be getting on with, but I’m only really just getting started….
