Long stuck in my memory of all the years I’ve visited Goodwood was an incident in the parade ring with my then girlfriend Lynda
,her first visit to a racecourse.Nothing bad happened but this event left one hell of an impression on the poor girl.As the horses paraded around the ring Kings Lake got somewhat excited and decided to show off his ‘manhood’ to all there, she was left open mouthed and speechless (a rare thing for her) at the sight. It doesn’t all have to be about the racing!
good luck to allJuly 28, 2024 at 23:17 #1703123Double Trigger beating his year younger full brother Double Eclipse in the 1995 Goodwood Cup. He won the race again in 1997 and 1998.
July 28, 2024 at 23:31 #1703124Although it wasn’t a vintage edition of the race, I also have to mention the 2004 Sussex Stakes won by Soviet Song.
I was a member of her ownership group, Elite Racing Club, and it was probably my favourite of all her brilliant victories. There were so many club members that riches did not flow from this superb victory, but it still made me very happy.
Sadly I can’t find a recording of it online at present.

The more I know the less I understand.
July 31, 2024 at 15:01 #1703398Spinning winning two races during 1992 Festival; Tote Gold Trophy H’Cap over 1m4f, then the Glorious Stakes over 1m2f a few days later. Was a pretty versatile horse.
July 31, 2024 at 16:56 #1703432Nathan, Henry’s Sussex is 5 mins 40 secs on this compilation. espmadrid might have the race in isolation in his vast library.
July 31, 2024 at 17:46 #1703442Best to ask for races via my Youtube Channel as I don’t log on here too often, but I’ll have a look for this one. I’ll upload to Youtube and provide a link here in the next hour, once I’ve seen if we can finish off Brazil in the Olympic football.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
