I don’t know how you remember which races these all were, all I remember are the horses, not necessarily the jockeys either. There was one about three years ago where Marlborough was brought from last to first by a jockey that never, ever gave up thinking he could win. I’m sure someone will fill in the gaps in my memory.

EDIT: What a co-incidence! I leave this thread and check out the favourite horses thread and who are they talking about? Marlborough!

G B*ad*ey’s ride on Suny Bay in the ’98 National was a perfect example of how to ride a horse over an extended trip in near unraceable conditions realising he would get maximum cooperation from his most resolute and foot-sure mount.

Would have to agree with Drone on this one, the finest exhibition of how to hold a horse together and get the maximum from him, by sheer skill rather than brute force, that I have ever seen. Giving away lumps of weight, and scraping the paint the whole way round, the horse never covered an un-necessary inch of ground, and, had it not been the bog that Earth Summit loved so much, would surely have been rewarded for the magnificence it was.

Marlborough in Charlie Hall of a few seasons ago – Mick Fitz up – hammered the first I think – given time to recover and won going away

This will test the memories of a few of the more senior members on here………….Terry Biddlecome on Domacorn in a handicap chase at Sandown.

It was the post above that reminded me………….not going a yard early on and jumping like a camel. Biddlecombe gave him time to sort himself out and the partnership went on to win.

Biddlecombe finished third on the horse in the Gold Cup and reckons he would have won that race if he hadn’t dropped his whip.

He’d crush you now if he sat on you.
