What a great Royal Ascot it’s been so far my highlight still has to be Blue Point winning The King’s Stand Stakes from Bataash and hoping now that he can pull off the double tomorrow in The Diamond Jubilee as we won’t see him next year to defend his title as Sheikh Mohammed has plans for him to go to stud. He will be an asset to the Godolphin operation a true blue chip stallion.

June 21, 2019 at 19:07 #1446437Stradivarius winning for me
Though if blue point wins tomorrow that would be brilliant
June 21, 2019 at 19:35 #1446444Undoubtedly Advertise. I’ve been sweet on him for a while. You can go back through the 2000 Guineas thread before the race and I called it even before then. A quality horse that won’t stay a Guineas mile and then drops back in trip to win the jersey or if they think he’s good enough the commonwealth cup. When it comes off it feels great! However it’s been a pretty frustrating Ascot for me this year, 6 2nds, 4 of them neck 2nds! I went against Stradivarius as well so I could’nt even enjoy Frankies 4 timer! One more day to go!
June 21, 2019 at 19:37 #1446445I agree on Blue Point, I backed him for the Kings Stand over Bataash this year so that was nice, would be fantastic to see him do the double. I’ve got a sneaky feeling Wesley Ward is gunna pull it off with Bound for Nowhere though
June 21, 2019 at 19:56 #1446450Crystal Ocean finally getting that Group 1 on his CV that his consistency deserved. Fair play to Stoute for not taking the easy option in the Hardwicke. The race also epitomised Detorri being on another level tactically this week to the other jockeys.

June 21, 2019 at 21:14 #1446461LS3 Now there is a bookie talking LOL LOL LOL
I am going to go for Frankie’s four timer even though I only backed two of them!!
The buzz was unbelievable
June 21, 2019 at 22:03 #1446470Blue Point vs Battaash.
The outcome wasn’t entirely conclusive but was a delight to see the duo clash with Blue Point looking fairly unstoppable at the track. Battaash produced a great performance considering he was inconvenienced by how things developed. As has already been said, Blue Point will off to stud sooner rather than later so we must enjoy every opportunity to watch him.
Least favourite moment was seeing the Queen Mary won by Raffle Prize. Nothing against the horse, but spent the whole race wishing Chasing Dreams could have taken part. Oh well, just need to find a price for the 2020 Commonwealth Cup now!
June 22, 2019 at 01:23 #1446521I’d like to add a least favourite moment too Krypton.. it was seeing the beautiful Sea Of Class going to post in a heavy downpour of rain knowing she would hate every minute of it and that she would not take any part in the finish as she would be looked after.
Trainer extremely honest about her chances his disappointment clear to see.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 22, 2019 at 09:03 #1446571It was nice to see Hayley Turner winning the Sandringham on Thanks Be and then watching the sad story of the owners was quite touching.
Japan really caught my eye as a good looking well formed horse and ran like a champion
From a betting highlight I asked TAPK what his best bets were and one of them was Southern France, somehow along the line I completely had a brain fart and backed South Pacific at 25’s instead….
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
June 22, 2019 at 10:42 #1446596My least fav moment, is seeing how depressed Wesley Ward looks in his interviews this week. He’s normally full of life and positivity and looks a bit demoralised at the ground conditions! He’s been such an important factor in supporting Royal Ascot from an International point of view and I really hope he can go back to the US with a winner again having pulled it off with Bound for Nowhere in the Diamond Jub. It’s a bet from the heart a little bit from me, but I don’t think he’s a 16/1 shot in this field.
June 22, 2019 at 14:39 #1446684Hard to pin it down to one moment, Frankie’s fabulous 4 had the place bouncing and
Blue Point looked like the champion he is. I’d have to have a draw between Stradivarius
winning back to back Gold Cups, what a brave horse he is, and from the emotional point
of view Haley winning the Sandringham was heart warming. On the punting side, it’s been a pretty dismal Royal Ascot for me. My only highlight
was an ante post bet on Move Swiftly at 20/1 (in ante post thread) who won the Duke
of Cambridge at 9/1.On the “you wouldn’t believe it” front, I was having a moan to Jac (Triptych) yesterday
in the Godolphin Competition thread that I couldn’t pick my nose. In the Bonus race, the
19 runner Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes, you had to place where the 2 Godolphin horses would
finish and you get a bonus 200 points for either that you get right. I selected Lucius
Tiberius to finish 10th, and he duly obliged. I just wonder what odds I would have got
from request a bet, it certainly would have turned my day around. I’ll never know
June 22, 2019 at 16:28 #1446703I’ve just waited for this to happen before answering your question Jac
:
My Ascot highlight is the fantastic double of the wonderful and fabulous Blue Point, the best sprint horse on this planet
June 22, 2019 at 16:39 #1446707Good point about Sea Of Class, Jac. She was definitely a big disappointment of the week. Would have preferred to see her put into the race a bit more, the ground was soft not absolutely desperate. I know they’ll want to look after her and they’ll have other opportunities this season but if connections don’t feel they can risk her on the going they really shouldn’t have run.
After the Diamond Jubilee, I have a new highlight. Adore Kachy and delighted he could place 3rd at a track which doesn’t play to his strengths. Blue Point won, but suspect Dream Of Dreams was the best horse on the day given how the race unfolded. Could set up an exciting clash later in the season, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Blue Point is retired now.
Hope Cenotaph wins the Wokingham to give Noseda a delightful send-off (and he ought to have a huge chance, if back to his best) which would help round off the week in style.
June 22, 2019 at 17:42 #1446711Highlight is Blue Point’s marvellous double.
June 22, 2019 at 18:06 #1446714
Yes Hein they don’t come much better than Blue Point, what a horse
Wins at 5f on soft and does it over 6f 4 days later on good….oh how I hope he comes to Newmarket for the July Cup
