I see your point about banker material, as in nalied on short prices, so apologise for putting up For Non Stop in that respect. However, value aside, he is my banker of the meeting for a place at the very least.
But apart from stating the obvious…Sprinter Sacre and Quevega, ….what else can be banker material? Nothing is nailed on at Cheltenham….it’s all about what you fancy…March 5, 2013 at 22:06 #431437Cue Card
March 5, 2013 at 23:01 #431440i’ve backed cue card as well. although he’s the jolly he must be one of the most underhyped favourites of the festival. nick mordin is in love with his speed figures.
in any case, should I be accused of being just a favourite backer, my three bets on the tuesday are un atout, avrika, and cinders and ashes

best dark horse of the festival is ericht in the coral cup
March 6, 2013 at 01:02 #431452I think a banker is all about the horse you fancy most to win. Price is irrelevant. We all have our own reasons. Some naps may appear braver than others, but it’s subjective. Some short-priced naps look stupid – like the drifting on Betfair Hurricane Fly.
Zip
March 6, 2013 at 07:24 #431458Isn’t that a nap, though?
March 15, 2013 at 13:57 #432945get in conor you absolute beauty
saves my meeting after a horrible few days

should have just waited until the friday
March 15, 2013 at 15:07 #432961Banker or Nap? They both have to win to be any good so I wouldn’t argue over the terminology. I backed Bobs Worth for The King George and didn’t get a run for my money, I also backed him at 8/1 for the Gold Cup and I believe that he has all the ingredients to win today as opposed to Silviano Conti and Sir Des Champs who I believe will both tire and may not be as good as they have been put up to be. Bob to beat Long Run on the run in for me.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

March 16, 2013 at 10:05 #433152Our Conor, Triumph Hurdle.
Love the fact people mocked because he didn’t look like a ‘banker’. Hacks up by fifteen lengths. Was so close to the retirement fund this week.
March 16, 2013 at 10:06 #433153Perhaps OC wasn’t the best example, but certainly wouldn’t call him a banker for the Triumph.
Really know your onions fella.
March 16, 2013 at 10:19 #433155our conor is some machine.

He does, and like everyone one here, some more often than others, called it "wrong". Erm, sort of.
Moving on……..
Cue Card

Well done Joe, you’ve stood by him through thick and thin, he won well for you.
Thanks mate. I hope you had a good week.
March 17, 2013 at 18:52 #433361aye cue card one of those horse’s that has been given a bad press, won’t stay, bridle horse and all.

Thanks EGS. Despite that win, I’m sure he’ll still have his detractors; when some folk take against a horse, they can be pretty stubborn.
I knew how bad it had got when supposedly professional summarisers, specifically those writing the post-race analysis for the RP, claimed that C Chris would probably have beaten him at Ascot bar his mistake.
Now it’s all about opinions, but that was simply disregarding what was in front of your eyes: Cap Chris had been under strong and sustained driving from the 3rd last while all JT had done was change rein.
At least the RP had the grace after the Ryanair to admit they were wrong, but when analysts at that level are writing tosh, you know how bad it’s got.
Still, it fattens the price!
All the best
JoeMarch 17, 2013 at 21:28 #433381Aye, I think some people take an opinion about a horse because it’s fashionable to do so, and stubbornly cling to that belief despite the mounting evidence suggesting the contrary.
To me it seems cue card is the best horse around over jumps now, outside of the monster.
