So here we are midsummer in the height of the flat season and in the South at least, a beautiful day. What have we got two afternoon meetings on the AW polytracks. If anyone wants any lessons on how to make a complete mess of selling your product this must surely be it. The people that run this sport are ideal candidates for government trained to make a complete mess of everything

and I’m sure the fare on offer on the Monday’s after the likes of Aintree or Cheltenham is of the very highest standard!

Quite right, Polytrack fans are so selfish, whatabout Southwell for all those fibresand fans.

They should have replaced Windsor with Kempton and Great Leighs for Chepstow.

I usually find that Tuesday is consistently the worst day for racing on the flat.

Mondays you sometimes get good meetings in ireland, and sometimes france, and the occasional decent card at windsor in the evenings.

On tuesdays though, theres usually very little. Last tuesday obviously a big exception.

Totally agree – I have long argued, apart from festival weeks, that Tuesday should be a blank day.

I always thought the idea of AW racing was to keep turnover going in the harsh winter months that we used to have, not for midsummer when it is 20 degrees.

Hardly a showcase for the sport watching horses run around on sand in a circle with very few bookmakers present and sometimes patrons.

Quite right, Would not be a Winter Tuesday if Sedgefield wasnt on.

Exactly the same as Ludlow Wednesdays and Huntingdon and Wincanton Thursdays

For many-a-year Flat mid-season Tuesdays were the quietest day of the week, with just two afternoon meetings, until the recent dubious decision to introduce evening racing spoilt the welcome semi-break

Musidora day at York was the sole Flat fixture with the away meeting being Hereford. Sensible race planning that helped amplify the sense of anticipation and occasion
