Magic Wand has probably added another figure that looks like her average figure and nothing like the Ribblesdale one, the ground was no excuse today.

As i said above, i wouldn’t have expected Magic Wand to have been at her best today…interesting that you do, after being ill after the Irish Oaks…

Either way, Sea of Class is an awesome filly. 25s for the Arc long gone! However, i’d worry her runstyle might not be ideal for the Arc.

Eziyra ran a decent race for me in third, however, she travels well but finds very little and just plugs on…..

Enable v Sea of Class v Lah Ti Dar would be even better!

I’ll reserve judgement for another race yet with Sea Of Class because I doubt it was as strong a field as it looked. She opened at odds which suggested there wasn’t a lot to worry about and I reckon the Lauren’s factor made the price for Sea The Class fans. I felt Laurens was a poor value bet today.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Lah Ti Dar just laid her marker down with a 10 length win in the Galtres. She may bounce of course and it wasn’t strong opposition but you couldn’t ask for much more than that.

Time was only 0.78 sec slower than Sea Of Class and she carried 4 lbs more winning unchallenged.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Why didnt Lah Ti Dar run in Yorkshire Oaks? He is a Group 1 horse and no business in listed race

Why don’t you think Magic Wind ran anything like her Ribblesdale form, Steve?

Beaten a total of 1 3/4 lengths by the consistent Coronet would be about what I would’ve expected from them both running to form.
Other two fillies to beat her both progressive – Eziyra and Horseplay improved past her.

No doubt because LTD was off a long absence (very ill apparently) and hasn’t got much experience behind her, Austin… And Gosden already had Coronet for that. But she’s now certainly Group 1 class. :good:

The horse had a setback and it was probably wise to come back for an easier reboot to her career. A hard race was probably the last thing she needed.

I had backed Lah Ti Dar at good odds for the Epsom Oaks and it was typical of the year I have had that she met with a setback.

I have Cracksman in the Arc but I am far from convinced about him. I reckoned Lah Ti Dar was/is value at 10/1 for the Arc, purely based on the belief that there may not be much between her and Sea Of Class who is half the odds.

Everyone will be waiting for the day when Enable tells John Gosden she is ready. The trainer made it clear to journalists that he doesn’t know when that will be but that the filly will tell him when she is ready to run. It seems likely that when the filly tells Gosden she is ready, he will not tell the media or punters and it will only be the day of the race and in the aftermath of Gosden walking every blade of grass on whichever course is chosen, that we will know for sure that she runs.

On a more serious note, Gosden seems to believe that Enable is well within herself and showing the right signs. For me though, the longer she continues without a run, her chances of doing the double diminish.

Does anyone else envision a “The race will come too soon for her now” scenario, as if they had sneaked the Arc forward by a fortnight on the fly?

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Enable is running in Kempton next month I believe. After such a long absence, its hard to say if she will be the same horse as last year. She will run 2 more races anyway (Kempton September Stakes and Arc) before retiring for stud duties.

As pleased as I was to see her sprint clear, I can’t help but be gutted as I had her NRNB as already mentioned at 12/1 for the Oaks. Gutting.

But the late drift meant I’ve ended with 15/8 here.

Our double is still on with Strad at 5/1 Wasp.

As a side note, SOC ‘wouldn’t have a chance of beating Cracksman’ Hein? Really? I’d have the filly 1/2 in a match bet between the pair for the Arc if he goes straight there based on what he’s shown of late. In what world would she not have a chance?

Agree with Charles – I wasn’t at all worried watching that. 7/4 may be too short for some on here but I thought that was a brilliant price for an Irish Oaks winner in the manner she did. As i said the other day.

She won like an odds on shot. Travelled like the best filly, kicked away like the best filly and stayed the trip like the best filly.

Not sure why she was seen as too short at 7/4 personally.

This was Lah Ti Dar today for those who missed her:-

    http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/race-replays/3/83989/

Jack, where did I say I thought Magic Wand would be at her best today?

It was other people who fancied her and I was trying to give advice against her. My point has always been that she may have been rated too highly for winning the Ribblesdale. That remains a very valid point right up until Magic Wand proves she can hit that mark again. Anyway, the truth will out in time.

John Gosden had said we would not see the best of Lah Ti Dah until she tried a mile and a half with some cut. She had the mile and a half but not the cut yet. Must be one of Sea Of Class’ biggest dangers.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I dont think laurens was 100% looked like she needed the run, was very free, that being said, i was hoping she would atleast plug on at the end, which she didnt, so im not as certain she will stay the trip now, but i havent lost faith, first poor run of her life and ill forgive her

Fav was excellent, real top class performance. Congrats backers, couldnt have her myself

Well, by saying she has probably added another figure that looks like her average figure ….you are surely suggesting this is her running to her ability…whereas, as i said previously in this thread it was hard to take her seriously today, as it was her first run back off an illness.

Just for reference, AOB said pre-race that MW was ready to start off again today, as she has had some time off like a lot of the others.

Well MoM, this is my honest opinion:
Cracksman was thrown in the extremely wrong races the last 2 times where ground, trip and track were against him.
I appreciate that Gosden learned from that and withdrew him from the Juddmonte.
In the Arc it’ll be a complete different story, the conditions there will suit him much better and I am confident he will show his true class again and win!
SoC won gamely today, but against what? I don’t rate her opponents high and find her extreme shortening for the Arc quite ridiculous, but its legitimate if you see it differently..
