Bottom weight should be a nice change for him too as he’s not a big horse.

20 horses declared for the Ebor with the favourite Stratum sneaking in at number 19 and Sir Chauvelin only the 2nd reserve which means he may well take up his entry in tomorrow’s Lonsdale. Is the deadline for reserves coming in tomorrow morning or Saturday first thing?

Nakeeta’s last run suggests he’ll be spot on for this but what record do horses attempting to retain the Ebor have?

I can’t remember anything winning it twice let alone two years running Patriot but good luck :good:

Sir Chauvelin runs in the Lonsdale too and I don’t know when the entry of reserves closes.

My three have all squeezed in so may just stick with them. Or maybe press up when they start offering extra places!!

Whiskey Sour for me, off a nice weight I can’t see him not in the mix.

    15/2 – 7 places (Sky Bet)

    Good luck all.

Well after that I can’t help but feel Count Octave would have gone very close here.

I backed him each-way at 20s for the Lonsdale so not the end of the world but it’s a double-edged sword.

I thought that when they crossed the line Charles but you could have had 6/1 without the fav which I thought was a good bet!!

    Montaly 28/1

‪Won the Lonsdale Cup last season and has slipped down the weights this season possibly with this as his target considering the pot. Balding also in flying form now and nicely drawn.

Montaly @ 28/1 back to his last winning mark, expecting a decent run

Sea the lion @ 18/1, looks fairly well laid outfor this, i think 104 may underestimate him if he stays,he will appreciate the ground

Dylan mouth was the other i considered but hes high enough innthe weights.

    Both e/w 5 places

Yes; I fancy Nakeeta to run well again. I’m sure claiming jockeys have a good record in the race, win and place, too. Most of the horses I fancy have a lousy draw. I have to back Scotland, because I always back him [although I think, in recent years, I’ve got him mixed up with another horse with a similar name!]; he falls into the ‘why are they persevering with this dog’ category…

If Scotland is a dog Moe then it is a bloody big un!! He is huge!! But I do see what you mean about why persist!!
One win in it’s life and that was a poor five runner race at Epsom in 2013!!

You watch this go and win if you don’t back it!!

I am happy with my three STRATUm MOUNTAIN BELL and MY REWARD but because they are offering loads of places had to back MONTALY 28/1 and SEA THE LION 16/11 as well.

So now I am on five horse in ONE race !! Crazy!!

To those of you on Stratum, what is it exactly that appeals about him? I’m genuinely curious, maybe I’m missing something but I’m finding it really hard to justify backing him at 3/1.

Time to Study EW for me. I saw a fair bit of potential in this lad at the beginning of the season but he seems to have lost his way. Hopefully going into handicap company and coming down in the weights slightly can edge out some improvement and see him go close here.

Reply to Ant. You may get a 4-1 somewhere this morning…

Connections of Stratum feel he has plenty in his favour as he goes for glory in the Sky Bet Ebor at York on Saturday.

Trainer Willie Mullins lifted this historic staying contest with Sesenta in 2009 and has a strong contender in Stratum, who has headed the ante-post market on the back of a convincing victory in the JLT Cup at Newbury five weeks ago.

The strongly-fancied five-year-old was not guaranteed a place in the line-up, but managed to get in at the final declaration stage – much to the relief of the Mullins camp and his supporters. He will again be ridden by Robert Winston.

“We’re very pleased, firstly that he got into the race. It’s obviously been the aim since Newbury and he’s been in great form since then,” said Mullins’ son and assistant, Patrick.

“He gets in at the bottom of the weights and he has a nice draw (four). He seems to tick a lot of the boxes.

“He looks to have a fantastic chance. You have to have luck in running, but we’re more than happy with him and we’re really looking forward to the race.”

I couldn’t back Stratum at all- but good luck to those who have.

I’ve went with Sea The Lion, who will come in here underestimated as he isn’t trained by a household name..yet he has good form.

Also, Mountain Bell- she was in my notebook for all sorts of races this season, but hasn’t performed one bit. She’s right at the bottom with a Breslin taking 5 off. I will take a chance on her at the prices as a year or two ago she was very highly thought of.

Yes; I think if Sea the Lion stays that extra furlong, he wins, but it’s a big ‘if’. Good draw, though. Mullins is so canny with these sort of races so I’m hoping [sorry for backers] that the draw scuppers Stratums chances; can’t back a horse at that price. Can’t believe that it’s 8 years since we went to the Ebor; still my favourite race of the year, though.

Scotland, for me. His run over C&D two starts back was solid enough, and he’s dropping back into a handicap for the first time in his career. Andrew Balding has been one of Jason Watson’s biggest supporters so it’s interesting he’s jocked him up here. Balding was quite bullish about him in the RP today. I’ve taken 33s.

Well I joined the ‘bite the bullet brigade’ and have backed Stratum at 7/2 as shameful as it is. I also backed the top two each-way. I felt Weekender probably doesn’t have as big a task as some might think off top weight considering the exposed types in the field and Dylan Mouth seems overpriced for me considering his decent course and distance form.

    Stratum 7/2
    Weekender 14/1 (e/w – 5 places)
    Dylan Mouth 25/1 (e/w – 6 places)

Just to let you know Mrsraymo has backed NAKEETA TEODORO and SEA THE LION all each way six places.

    Good Luck Guys :good: :good:
