Duke of Marmalade was retired to stud after the breeders. Soldier of Fortune is to be kept in training. In a way, suprised they are not keeping DOM in training as other than SOF, they dont have any decent middle distance horses. And i would hardly think he would be that much of a huge asset to have as a stallion looking at the others coolmore have.
You really don’t have a clue.
November 1, 2008 at 05:39 #187336I believe that the Duke is the last of the Danehills to have races. The biggest gamble of all is the gamble with a sire.Dylan Thomas was a Danehill.Since Danehill Dancer(15yo) is doing so well it is only natural to use Marmalade immediately rather than waiting to see how Dylan does. After all Sadlers Wells is no longer there so they want to keep the competition with Montjue and Galileo alive with a successful Danehill line.
November 2, 2008 at 11:13 #187544I’m not a SOF fan but Yeats going for a 4th Gold Cup is something really special that every real racing fan would love to see.
I can’t see what could possible beat him and 3/1 is a huge price for a horse like him to get there in one piece.
I know it’s along way off but considering he will be 4/6 on the day a good investment in my book.
SOF will no doubt pik something up along he way but he just lacks the toe it akes to win the real big ones.

Imo, Soldier of Fortune has ‘Melbourne Cup’ written all over him.
