I would bloody love it. It would be the greatest moment I’ve ever seen in horse racing! Watching him on the flat the other night do what he did made the hairs on my arms stand up.
I think I would wet myself if he came roaring up the hill 15 lengths up in the champion hurdle!
February 24, 2026 at 01:42 #1756058No dog in the fight here but as I have said in the not likely to ever end CH thread, he should be sticking to the flat and honestly this decision should have been made Saturday following his sparkling Friday performance.
There are now far more opportunities open to him on the flat than jumps and if he can nab a few of them, then for me his cache will rise even more than it would if he won a 2nd Champion Hurdle, which given his jumping frailties, you have to seriously question his ability to actual complete the course let alone win the race.
The fact that connections are seemingly fixated on sending him back over hurdles (which I think in their heart of hearts is their preferred option) which given said jumping issues will be opening the horse up to the totally unnecessary risk of injury or perhaps even the loss of his actual life, doesn’t really reflect well on either of them.

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 24, 2026 at 08:23 #1756072Perhaps he looked so good on the flat because he enjoyed it. Enjoyed the change, the aw, the quicker shorter race, the flat track, the occassion, the stalls.
This notion that he just needs a clear round win the CH is, perhaps, just that.
Fact is he got round at punchestown and got hammered, he was not travelling well at all when he came down at aintree. Even at cheltenham he wasnt cruising with that air of inevitability or invincibility he once had. He could go to the CH and looks distinctly uninterested.
February 24, 2026 at 21:16 #1756157Watching Constitution Hill effortlessly storming away from his rivals at Southwell confirmed he still has an abundance of zip still buzzing inside him. He looked in his element. He needs to stay with the Flat for his wellbeing and, ultimately, his life.
A big No from me.
February 24, 2026 at 21:20 #1756158Fully agree with Andrew and Rob, just my arguments. But, sadly the 1/3 about him running in the CH starts to turn into a value bet.
February 25, 2026 at 10:55 #1756202I have no financial involvement in the race (did back Golden Ace anti-post last year at 100-1 so would like to see her win again), but even if CH won the decision to run him would be completely reckless and certainly not in the best interests of the horse or the sport for that matter.

February 25, 2026 at 17:31 #1756311This was never a question of being right or wrong, unless we’re talking about the horse’s health.

The connections have done the correct thing.
Why do so many dislike Henderson ?
