hi Nathan,
thanks again, much appreciated…
From our experience, and we have rehoused our own dogs many years ago when we owned some, they make wonderful pets. We saw a family out with one only the other day funnily enough, at a garden show
However you do need to choose your dog carefully as you would any dog really.
Here’s a couple of websites you might be interested in, to find out more from people better qualified than I am, but here’s one quote from Greyhounds4u:-”For very young children, generally a slightly older, more sensible and "laid back" hound would be better”.

On page 4 of a TRF thread titled ”Streamlining Sections on TRF”

the poster Ken West kindly put up an interesting history of the Greyhound which I believe he quoted from the website here:-
http://www.greyhoundexpressions.org/
”Greyhounds make the most wonderful family companion and are good with well- mannered, considerate children. Sharing your life with a Greyhound will change your life in every way…”
….plenty for you to consider

So, if your children forget to say "please" and "thank you" the dog is not going to be very happy. A sort of canine Mary Poppins.
April 16, 2010 at 07:48 #290553I will be venturing off to Peterborough tonight with some friends to watch the Semi Finals of the Puppy Derby heat 1 looks very tough fancy the 3 inside traps in this heat but only 2 qualify for the final.
I have backed Droopys Pique e/way at 14/1.so fingers crossed.April 16, 2010 at 07:51 #290554Doesnt Tanya Stevenson off the Morning Line own a few Greyhounds?
April 16, 2010 at 08:07 #290555Well you PM me with the Saturday night good things UM

Good luck and I look forward to following your posse’s progress

..thanks again Martin. Should I get anything of interest, I’ll let you know…
in return, perhaps a winner or two from Longchamp…?
…you appear rather good at it, so see you on the French thread
Of course – I’m much better at the jumps tracks but will be sifting through the French form in preparation for the Prix Saint-Alary

May 11, 2010 at 10:44 #295256…just an update…
Droopys Brandon – he’s been to Hove for an Open and he finished 2nd beaten a neck. He got in a bit of trouble and was some way behind the leader but came with a strong finish but post came just too soon. That was 515 metres.
He also went to Henlow but never got into it over 550m, so that was disappointing.
He then went back to Yarmouth on 5th May over 462 A1 and finished 3rd but he’s not really suited to Yarmouth. He now goes back to Hove to contest another Open this Sunday 16th. Not looked at the race yet, but I’m very hopeful. This should be shown in the betting shops so I shall be paying Coral’s a visit.Droopys Djokovic – he hasn’t raced for a while – We took him for a walk last Sunday and he loves plenty of nibbles.
He went for a trial at Harlow last Wednesday over 415 m, he was beaten 6 lengths by another Open dog as it’s too short, but he goes back to Harlow tomorrow night [Wednesday 12th] for another Open over the stayers trip, 592m. It’s the 21.15 race and a heat for the delightfully named ‘Monkey Stayers Maiden’..lol…. I do hope he gets in the first two as the final following week I think is worth £500
