Jezki has been ruled out for the season, a shame given his exploits over 3m at Punchestown.
Martello Tower appeals most at 20/1.
September 27, 2015 at 12:46 #1208754Any more news if Martello Tower is staying hurdling or going over fences? He definitely appeals if he sticks with hurdles – won’t find many who will outstay him
September 28, 2015 at 18:46 #1208923To expand a little on my opening post. Connections were quoted in the Irish Field a couple of weeks ago as saying he was likely to stay hurdling. With Jezki now injured my thinking is that if they were leaning towards another year hurdling before that news they’ll be even more so now. Annie Power is all that stands between Martellow Tower and domination of the Irish scene and he’s the type that’d open to plenty of improvement. He won’t lack for stamina and, likable though Cole Harden is, the British stayers wouldn’t strike fear into you.
Similarly, Windsor Park may have won the Neptune but what piece of form entitles him to be half the price of Martello Tower? The form of No More Heroes, Windsor Park and Outlander was all tied in closely and there’s nothing to suggest Windsor Park is a superior horse. Martello Tower is the proven stayer and for me the one more likely to go on. 20/1 really is a good price imo.
October 31, 2015 at 16:39 #1219880From my blog
Kilcooley won the Bet365 Yorkshire Hurdle today by 13 lengths from ex-Champion Hurdler Rock on Ruby (who was too keen for too long and ran out of juice). I was very impressed by the winner, even more so than I was with Cole Harden when he won it last year. The 33s they went about Cole Harden for the World Hurdle hasn’t appeared, but you can get not far off that with the 25s offered by Skybet (Kilcooley is as low as 14s elsewhere). He went into this race on a 9lbs higher rating than Cole Harden did, and when reassessed, there is every chance he’ll be rated higher than the current World Hurdle Champion, who is on 164 (Kilcooley started today on 159).
Well suited by the soft ground, which he’s unlikely to get in March, I wouldn’t be misled into thinking that this is why Kilcooley looked so good today. He’s only 6 and seems to be a solidly improving young horse whose connections have just discovered relishes a stamina test. He has form on good ground. What he might need, judging by last season, is a fair amount of time between races. He certainly gave everything today. Kilcooley, whose trainer, C Longsdon says the World Hurdle will now be on the menu, holds strong appeal as the first top value bet for Cheltenham 2016.
October 31, 2015 at 18:18 #1219889Good luck with Kilcooley Joe, nice winner today, and another good read.
I’ve bet 2 for this, Aux Ptit Soins, and Call The Cops. Call The Cops looks like going chasing, but on at 200’s to 250’s, so something to cling to if chasing doesn’t work out.
A lot happier with Aux Ptit, I’m on at 95’s to 100’s, and I’ve laid off at 11’s to 12’s for a green book, but still got a fair chunk on Aux Ptit, so fairly happy. That green book won’t last long though, as I’ll no doubt latch on to some forlorn outsider
October 31, 2015 at 19:36 #1219909Massive prices on those, Bobby – good luck. I like Call the Cops a lot, and he could be very decent over fences, where NJH seems determined to send him
November 23, 2015 at 12:03 #1222904Backed the albert bartlett winner martello tower at 20/1. Confirmed target and very good value Imo.
Anybody know anything about Thistlecrack target??November 23, 2015 at 12:37 #1222906Also backed Windsor park at 10/1. Impressive neptune winner. Deloite form looks very strong now and I don’t think he’s under priced at all. With atleast a dozen in the market to target else where or have minor injuries.
Alpha des obeaux exchange 68.0
Backed this one also for rsa at 80.0
But seen the entries lately and entered up for 2 nice staying hurdle races. Was tanking along behind thistle crack when fell at aintree. And finished it’s race well behind nicholls canyon at punchestown out staying 2 very nice sortsNovember 29, 2015 at 17:36 #1223795Rocky Thistlecrack going for this race he is on at 25/1 i think he win it i do
November 29, 2015 at 18:56 #1223810Have taken some 25s Bobs Worth, added to Kilcooley and Cole Harden. BW looked much happier over hurdles at Aintree than he did yesterday. He won’t be winning at Chasing’s Grade 1 level again, so a reversion to his unbeaten field (5 from 5 inc 3 at Cheltenham) seem sensible
December 11, 2015 at 10:28 #1225536Skybet today have gone NRNB on this and the other 3 championship races. I’ve added Arctic Fire at 14s with them. Mullins has concerns about him settling over 3 miles, but if he decides to chance it AF will be a 5/1 chance at best imo
December 11, 2015 at 17:57 #1225597Very good shout steeple chasing. Very suprised they kept him at 14/1 with the nrnb. He is an unlikely runner you would assume but that’s the way nrnb should be used. his hurdle entries over Christmas would give you a glimmer of optimism and in my personal opinion the way he stays on at the end of every single race I’d be very excited as a viewer to see him over 3 miles.
Would much rather tie up my money with arctic fire than I would Annie power for the wh. Because the mares is a fore gone conclusion.December 14, 2015 at 10:59 #1225861On Thistlecrack for this but I have a feeling he is currently the weakest of my ante-post bets. His jumping let him down badly when he should have won in Ireland last year and unless the ground comes up soft I can see that being a problem again, particularly in a much bigger field.
Is there a problem with Martello Tower? Would have expected him out by now.
December 14, 2015 at 11:50 #1225869There’s still plenty 16s left about Kilcooley, which will disappear when he wins the Long Walk on Saturday :)
December 14, 2015 at 18:22 #1225912Steeple chasing
Kilkooley not going to run as hasn’t sparkled at home according to Charlie longsdon on atr on the lineDecember 14, 2015 at 21:17 #1225926Thanks, Rocky. Had a look at his website – looks like the Relkeel for him now, Glad I didn’t back him for Saturday: was as short as 7/2
December 19, 2015 at 14:41 #1226458Very very impressed with Thistlecrack there. Looks the world hurdle winner in waiting. Backed him at 25/1 Iv only got £30 but very happy with that.
On another note kilultagh vic must be some beast now and can’t wait to see him step up in trip after his 2 mile chase today. - AuthorPosts
