Hopefully we get confirmation on Saturday that Elusive Dream gets 3m+ standing on his head. It’s then game-over for the World Hurdle.
December 16, 2008 at 21:54 #197417All a bit weird that race at the moment Grassy… Nicky Henderson has 2 in it sitting at 7/2 joint favs and PN has 2 in it sitting at 6’s,
I see Ruby is supposidly riding PN’s other horse Mobasher who was well beaten by Duc De Regniere. You would have thought Ruby wold know which had the best chance but they’re not at the post yet and all could change.
Would love to see both Nicky’s running as I’m convinced the above mentioned is his best chance of success in the World Hurdle.
December 16, 2008 at 22:03 #197427Big price about the German raider too. For the sake of my 150’s on Monoalco for Cheltenham I hope that Atamane puts in a bold show, in good form too with a 2nd in a Grade 1 at the start of last month and a win on 23rd Nov too
December 16, 2008 at 22:15 #197436Throw in the fact that he’s still only six, going on seven, and you begin to wonder what there is to think about.
How about the fact that he has only won seven of twenty-one hurdle starts?
He might only be rising 7yo, but he is hardly a young, inexperienced horse with stacks of improvement to come.
I repeat – at current odds, he is the worst value in the World Hurdle market……….imo.
Oh Grass,
He is the surest of sure things. Just needs to turn to win doing handsprings. I’ve gobbled up plenty of 5’s and still think 3/1 is value. If he turns up, he’ll be 6/4 an accurate price
The Shoes
December 16, 2008 at 23:09 #197453Alright Shoes, me old mucker?
I see you’ve been sucked in by some poncey French Flat races, and his second in a poor renewal of the Stayers. Stick to the 30-runner sprint handicaps, pal – that’s my advice.

Fists, I’m not completely surprised that Walsh has opted for Mobaasher, to be honest, as his stamina is proven, whereas Elusive Dream still has to prove he can get home over 3m+.
I’m still a little deflated over jockey arrangements though. I’d much prefer to see Ruby jocked-up on Elusive Dream, and would have hoped that his comprehensive defeat of Punchestowns last season, might have swung things in his favour. Apparently not, it would seem.
December 16, 2008 at 23:20 #197458Grass,
I’m ok mate. I’ve pretty much quit the day to day stuff now, although I still watch and make wild judgements. I tend to wait for the good things to come along and lump on and trust me Kasbah is lump material add to the fact that’s my day at the festival 2009 and we are up and running for a major party.
December 20, 2008 at 23:01 #198311I take the opposite view entirely. Punchestowns’ win the other week was one of the most impressive things I’ve seen in ages whereas Saturday’s slowly-run race rather fell into Duc De Regniere’s lap with Inglis Drever pulling up and Pettifour jumping poorly. Duc De Regniere is over twice the price of Punchestowns on Betfair for the World Hurdle and I think that’s about right.
You were spot on there Gus. Are you on for the world hurdle?
December 21, 2008 at 12:58 #198393Yes.
December 21, 2008 at 19:30 #198458Wish I had
……Well done Gus!!!.I did back Tazbar EW and while I don’t think he can win beat PTowns I do think he could be in the shake up.
He was in the Fighting Fifth and was going to run. Despite having run on the flat 6 weeks ago, a friend who was there yesterday assures me he looked to be carrying a lot of condition and there wasn’t a coin for him. Despite that he ran an absolute cracker finishing 3rd over a distance too short for him. I would expect him to be winning very soon and hopefully end up at Chelters despite the Reveleys hating the place
December 21, 2008 at 19:31 #198459Good one Gus, I must say that IMO the best part of his win yesterday was that there still looks to be so much room for improvement. Looks like money in the bank, hence it appears they have taken the the 9/4 on him, now a best priced 2-1.
December 22, 2008 at 00:37 #198502Obviously, I was pleased with Punchestowns’ performance yesterday but for me he actually looks a bit short now at 2/1. Kasbah Bliss is a big danger in my book.
December 22, 2008 at 00:42 #198504In fact, and somewhat to my surprise, I’ve just succeeded in laying him (just to save my stake) at 2.88 on Betfair when 2/1 is freely available elsewhere.

Surely someone must have thought it meant 2.88/1, cant complain with that. Im thinking of laying my stake off on Binocular but am quite happy with Puchestowns, think I’ll let it roll, think that with his quirks ironed out he could be 10-15lbs better than saturday, where he was walking over a few of the hurdles.
Kasbah Bliss threw in some good form on the flat, and I was on him in last years world hurdle, but on his hurdling I dont really see him as a serious threat, this boy looks special in the making, if anything stops him winning, it’ll be more of a tragedy than me losing my bet.
December 22, 2008 at 15:32 #198630You can’t have been anything but impressed by Punchestowns and unlike Binocular who may well be a bridle horse (maybe not is), Punchestowns has already showed ability to go up the hill (though off a very lenient mark) and in a weak looking division looks the obvious bet. Think Kasbah Bliss’s form over the summer was fair, but not sure how it really stacks up as the staying division on the flat and in France was not great as proved by Coastal Path’s Gold Cup run.
December 23, 2008 at 02:43 #198732I’m a big Kasbah Bliss fan. The 7/2 now available is a much better price so i’ve had a small christmas investment..

You will probably never see Binocular off the bridle this season so don’t be worrying about it
January 24, 2009 at 21:27 #206286Was Kasbah Bliss favourite for the race before the Cleeve Hurdle? ? ?
Only reason i ask is because i think he may have become favourite for the race, on the back of Punchestown’s defeat to Big Bucks.
