Ran his last race at Cheltenham today. He certainly gave us plenty of thrills down the years along with a good measure of disappointment. Good luck to the old boy in retirement.

Any news on Captain Chris or Menorah….?

Nath, Captain Chris has been retired.
April 13, 2016 at 22:20 #1242306Not sure about Captain Chris and Menorah but it seems pretty unlikely they will be pulling up too many trees even if they haven’t already been retired. Add in Balthazar King and not the most rosy outlook for the Hobbs yard. Had a pretty dreadful end to the season and I would be struggling to name too many obvious potential stars for next season.
April 14, 2016 at 12:54 #1242343Sausalito Sunrise is rated over 160 and Hobbs has a slew of nice prospects coming through from bumpers. Sternrubin will be going chasing and he has a very well-handicapped hurdler in Wait For Me. None of those are superstars but I’m sure Hobbs will continue his annual winner churn and ride out the period of transition without too many worries.
Wishfull Thinking was an odd horse. He produced some amazing weight-carrying efforts, but could run a stinker when facing much easier tasks! Hobbs said the horse had more breathing issues than a chain-smoker so his longevity is a credit to the yard.
