Drugs cheating teenager being able to take part, just in case it affects her mental welfare.
Says it all really.
Olympics given its approval for all 15 year olds to now take performance enhancing drugs?
Value Is EverythingFebruary 14, 2022 at 14:03 #1583128Formula 1 has a Constructor’s a championship.
Time for the Olympics to have a Pharmaceutical’s Championship?
Best Performance-Enhancing Drug?
Most Improved Performance-Enhancing Drug?
If you can’t beat ’em….

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 14, 2022 at 14:10 #1583131I’ve previously said that we should have a no drugs barred Olympics. Usain Bolt ran 100m in 9.58 seconds whilst clean. Imagine how quick he’d be if he was on the juice.
February 14, 2022 at 14:41 #1583137She is waif-like, and the horror of her lifestyle and training regime can only be imagined. Wonder how she was given the drug?

By that Richard, aren’t you also asking for loads of athletes to die young?
Performance enhancing drugs put a strain on the heart.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 14, 2022 at 18:32 #1583158I think Richard’s saying there would be two olympics – one clean and one for steroids, if athletes choose to partake in the steroid olympics then they do so at their own risk.
February 14, 2022 at 20:40 #1583174You’re still encouraging something that is very dangerous, Ben.
Taking performance enhancing drugs is dangerous as it is – and that is with only the small amount competitors think they can get away with now.
Allowing limitless drugs would increase the danger enormously. Might as well have syringes of drugs laid out on a table and have competitors sat there with spectators cheering on their favourite as he / she injects. Because with limitless drugs whoever takes the most drugs wins. Who wants to see that?
…And you’ve still got the prospect of drugs being used in the “drug free” Olympics…
Important to realise competitors don’t take drugs because they like taking drugs.
Whole point of drug taking is to gain an unfair advantage.
So allowing another (drug taker’s) Olympics alongside a drugs free one, does not solve the problem.Value Is EverythingFebruary 14, 2022 at 21:10 #1583178I was only joking… But in fairness, tone doesn’t really carry across the screen.
I was talking to someone the other day who very much knows his onions on athletics and he reckons even now drugs are still a bigger issue than many would like to think or admit. One of the problems is that whilst you have great advances in testing, you have another group of people working against that who are developing new drugs and ways to beat the testing.

Absolutely Befair. What a thing for her to have to go through.

Am sure in one way it helps to be a lightweight in order to jump high. However, you might think the only way those legs could withstand the landing force of a quadruple somersault is with drugs.Value Is EverythingFebruary 14, 2022 at 21:27 #1583187You could equally have levelled that question at me, GT.
It’s not a question of “wanting” or “encouraging” anything – it’s allowing people to exercise a free choice.
I was joking too, though tbh it’s clearly impossible to police effectively for reasons Richard and Ben state.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 14, 2022 at 21:29 #1583188Treating a 15 year old drug taker with kid gloves is a massive mistake. Bound to encourage unscrupulous coaches to put pressure on many child prodigies to take drugs or drug them without the child’s consent.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 14, 2022 at 21:34 #1583189I knew you were joking Ian.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 14, 2022 at 21:35 #1583190Is she a “15yo drug taker”? Purely my take, but I would imagine, as a minor, she does exactly what her coaching team tell her to do. Including ‘supplementary’ programmes.
The Russkies still get a comparatively rough trip mind. Drugs cheat Carl Lewis is still held up as an Olympic Icon. Because he is born and raised in the good ol’ Yoo Ess Ay.

February 14, 2022 at 21:36 #1583191Too right, TTC. Flo Jo and Marion Jones were other examples. Americans never cheat.
February 14, 2022 at 21:37 #1583192It is obviously impossible to police perfectly – and am sure many get away with drug taking. However, as long as it is generally fair that’s all we can hope for.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 14, 2022 at 21:40 #1583194Whether or not the athlete consented, he / she has taken the drugs and therefore is a drugs taker.
