That ride on Cogry over Christmas was something special. Perfectly planned and executed. Shrewd tactics to neutralise Rolling Maul and outstay Rocklander while also being sympathetic to a horse who’d had three or four bone-crunching falls, then ‘no more Mr Nice Guy’ in a very strong driving finish.
WTD is still a bit flaky and isn’t the tidiest at the moment but there is plenty of time on his side. He has the brains, he is savvy with the media and he reportedly gives top notch feedback to connections. Hopefully he’ll follow the same maturity curve as Adrian Heskin. I think both could be top jockeys when they get to their late 20s.
