I know a lot of people will ask what am I talking about, however just recently although not having a dip in form 1 or 2 of his horse that would habe been expected to have won have been beaten, however it as gone largely unnoticed as he keeps churning out the winners. He is about to braek a record for the amount of winners in a season tomorrow.
However I just wonder if he as a second yard like Nicholls has and maybe the ones that appear to be running under par are in a different yard to the others.
A horse in question recently was Zaidpour and those who watched like I did his post race interview with Gary O’Brien may or may not have picked up on what he said but it was " Paul said he ran life, a lttle flat" which I read as that he was going to say lifeless but quickly realised waht he was going to say so changed it quickly.
Maybe I am reading a little to much into his recent results but I am certainly watching his runners with a degree of caution at the moment.
February 23, 2013 at 00:36 #430264Four of last five odds-on chances sent out by Willie Mullins have been beaten, including at 12 and 815. I’d say you have a point there NI.
Doesn’t mean his horses will lose today, but something to bear in mind.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 23, 2013 at 10:24 #430306a bit off topic, sorry, but Mr Mullins "improves" horses unbelievably. Comes to mind "Thousand Stars", small yard, then Mullins and the rest is well known. " Abbey Lane", another, wins the Boylesportshurdle. My mind does sometimes boggle.
February 23, 2013 at 11:42 #430324I think the issue with WM odds-on shots being beaten is largely that many of his more fancied horses are basically overbet.
February 23, 2013 at 16:54 #430355The price of some of his runners are reflected due to the amazing success he has had this season, over 100 winners ahead of the next trainer. You can’t expect every odds on fav. to win or he probably would be 150 winners ahead although some of his so-called second string also beat the short priced horse. Nicholls and Henderson also have losers like this in England even when in top form.

I don’t think there is any suggestion Willie Mullins is not a supurb trainer HS, just that he’s had more short priced losers recently than you’d expect – even allowing for the fact they’re often overbet.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 26, 2013 at 01:24 #430566Would they have been such a price, and as such more noticeable, if it weren’t for the form of the stable ?
I think he’s incredible and also has horses i’m not sure other trainers would have considered for NH racing.
