If Star de Mohaison runs in this he will shoulder 11-12, letting My Will get in on 11-5, which would be ideal for this consistent 9yo who has always looked a horse who has a big race in him, having said that "Lacdoudal" is
very well in on 10-8 and has a turn around in the weights of 18lb for a previous confrontation with My will at Cheltenham, the only other horse that interests me in this race is Wichita Lineman and with 10-9 is very well handicapped for a horse with his form, he has also had a lot of interest in him on Betfair for this!

Really like the look of Nenuphar Collonges here. Loves this track and has the weights in his favour…. Not confirmed yet but Choc Thornton will probably ride him. 20’s look good imo.

Dropping back in trip on a course he acts very well on wont do him any harm either

I know, but he has jumped well enough to win over fences before. If you forgive his jumping performance in the welsh national he’s not all that bad.

Watched a couple of replays on him from earlier chases and although not as natural as some of his rivals seems to jump fairly economically.

If he doesn’t perform his jumping I agree will be the most likely reason. Would be foolish to rule a horse out at 20/1 that ticks every other box though imo. But then I only gamble a little, especially in handicaps at Cheltenham!

Wouldn’t back Lacdoudal with someone else’s, myself.
It is worth noting that his regular pilot is already booked for Possol in this, and with Cheltenham bound to suit much more than Kempton, he might just be the bet of the whole meeting.

Can’t find an angle into this at all, now that Can’t Buy Time is an absentee.
Millenium Royal a possibility but I am surprised to be finding myself settling on Possol

I think Hobbs Hill is an interesting runner. He’s yet to tackle three miles but connections presumably don’t think stamina will be an issue as he’s entered in the Grand National and the Bet365 Gold Cup.

Other than that he has a bit of class and jumps well

160/1 on Betfair possibly suggests he’s unlikely to turn up but if he does that sort of price looks like madness

I have backed Hot Weld nrnb in the hope that it is good ground, if it isn’t, it is not a problem as a love the horse.

Will probably make a decision on Tuesday for my other pick once the ground is known.

I quite like According to John for this. He’ll enjoy the ground if we get the forecast rain for Monday/Tuesday and he ran well enough on his comeback this season to suggest he may retain the ability he showed in his novice season. If he does retain that ability/potential, he could be on a very lenient mark.

3rd to Denman in the 07 RSA reads well too!

I thought he was a fast ground horse

According to John is a horse I really like. What was the physical problem that kept him off the track?

trainer says he needs good to soft ground in my book, but doesnt say what injury he sustained other than he was given a lot of time by Robert Ogden to recover….seem to think a lot of him.

According to John has seven wins and five of those have been on heavy ground, one on soft and the other on good to soft. I think he would be versatile enough to cope with better ground, but his record suggests that soft certainly wouldn’t inconvenience him.

Sorry, that should read six (not seven) wins for According to John, four on heavy ground. I must have been counting him as a winner next Tuesday already!

Not sure what his injury was, Tuffers. Trainer reported the problem came to light after According to John’s only run last season which was on ground with a bet less cut than he might have liked. It would be useful to know what the injury was though in order to form a better opinion about the likelihood of the horse retaining the ability he showed as a novice where he was third in a pretty good RSA.

I really like Nenuphar Collonges, not exactly rock solid in the market but if he were to be declared I’d have to have a go, it wouldn’t be unlike king to have him footperfect for cheltenham.

For the life of me, can’t see Nenuphar Collonges winning because he literally can’t jump.

Wichita Lineman would be a big lay for me too.

Finding the winner though is a different story.

My Will would certainly interest me off 11 stone 5 after a barnstorming run in the Hennessy.
