Why dont we all make ourselves a few quid for the holidays and devise a little scam, we are all mostly betting men and punters!! Lets campaign David Haye at 100/1 on this site. Theres nearly 10,000 members on this site so if we all vote for him several times and get all our friends and family to vote for him and smash him up at 100/1 the night of the show we all could be having a very happy new year.
Lets face it its how asian syndicates have been making millions for years. E.g Ulrika Johnson winning big brother at 40/1, being booed on way out while her and audience all shouted its a fix. Not to mention giggys last year!! Unfortuanetly i have a feeling members on here may be all too concerned with moral value and the beloved AP. Well AP cares about no one but himself, he wouldnt vote for you!! And it wont help racing one bit, it will just make AP more egotitstic, arrogant and be another shiney trophy on his cabinet!! He is one of the greatest jump jockey of all time though dont get me wrong.December 17, 2010 at 11:15 #332972

Go straight to Jail do not pass go and do not collect 200

egotitstic? arrogant? Where do you get that rubbish from?
December 17, 2010 at 15:02 #332997No he’s right Fist – apparently AP also:
1. Refuses to answer his door to Kids on Halloween night.
2. Keeps all his money in a big box at the bottom of his garden and buys his kids a lump of coal for Christmas.
3. Refuses to share his last Rollo with his wife.
4. Walks around the local primary school at Christmas with a sign saying "Father Christmas Doesnt Exist"
5. Burns off the legs of Daddy Longlegs with a magnifying glass.
A vote for him is a vote for Satan himself.

December 17, 2010 at 17:38 #333008Haha im not isnulting the guy, we all know how good he is and a big ego and some arrogance is something all great champions have. Il grant you he is modest to an extent as he usually says ohter peole say hes a good jockey he never admits it himself!!

Im just saying that AP winning the spoty wont help racing as much as people are making out!! TV ratings wont go through the roof, racecourses wont be full to capacity and there will not be any great increase in interest for the sport in the long term. What i would say is it wont hurt the sport if he wins, but it certainly wont spark the renasaissance that some are predicting!!
December 17, 2010 at 18:44 #333016I won’t vote for AP for lots of reasons – top one being I gave up with SPOTY many years ago.
There’s a video going around of the horses at Jackdaws Castle "talking" about AP – as a friend said to me, horses wouldn’t vote for McCoy. He’s not as hard as he used to be but I used to find that "McCoy drive" with a tired horse unpleasant to watch. And I certainly wouldn’t pick Family Business as one of his best rides, given he fell off (and I was always very strongly against remounting).
It’s not a lifetime achievement award – it’s a personality award and to be honest, I never see much of that from him. If I were to vote, it would be for Graeme Swann. Whether it’s through Twitter or the video diaries he’s currently doing for the ECB, he’s making people laugh and still turning in good performances with bat and ball.
If I thought voting McCoy would do anything to arrest the erosion of terrestial racing coverage, then I’d make the effort to vote. But it won’t make any difference.
December 17, 2010 at 23:05 #333045…………Nothing at all to do with personality……it is a 50 odd year old BBC award which got its name from an era when personality would have been used in place of person……….and rightly so….nothing to do with personality…….never has been.

Even though we’ve established that it has nothing to do with personality? (though I would have thought that was blindingly obvious given past recent winners).
If it WAS just based on personality surely there would only be one winner every year????? Mr W Rooney

December 18, 2010 at 16:59 #333134There’s more to being a great jockey than strength and a will to win. It’s all about hands and balance and, above all empathy for the horses they’re riding. Sampras was one of the most prolific winning tennis players ever, but I never wanted to watch him play. There’s a certain beauty about sport and sportspeople. I don’t find that in McCoy’s style of riding. No one loves racing more than I do; it’s been a huge part of my life for nearly 50 years, but I can’t go against what I feel inside. I was so pleased for him when he won the National, but I find that this campaign is trying to turn him into someone that he isn’t. I’m sorry it that offends people. And I still can’t forget the way he walked away from Valiramix that day, when I’d seen jockeys like Norman Williamson do everything they could when the horse they’d been riding had been injured.
