Do we have to have another useless thread like this, what exactly are we going to learn , and in the grand scheme of things , does anybody care
can you guys go back to betfair and bore them silly please (no offence Marble) as this is plain stupid
smell the coffee please
Ricky
And when was the last thread you created Ricky?, at least we have an opinion and aren"t afraid to say it! it doesn"t matter how stupid the guys
opinion is, at least he"s got one! and thats why this is a popular forum!February 19, 2009 at 03:44 #211042Now believe this or believe it not; but I think someone at Ladbrokes has extra-sensory perception because, ninety nine times out of a hundred, whenever I take a price on a horse I can virtually guarantee that within a milli-second the odds will lengthen. Is that not spooky, I ask? Whoever it is that has these special powers must know that if I’m backing a particular horse they can be more or less certain it’s unlikely to win and therefore they can afford to knock the price out. How can I beat these supernatural bookmakers, I wonder? Is there anyone out there who has similar experiences, please? Maybe we could find some way of tricking them into shortening the odds on our horses. After all, even if the horses lose, I can still take comfort knowing that I beat them on the prices.
Cheers
KenFebruary 19, 2009 at 03:53 #211044I think this specific example is less a case of Ladbrokes and Hills having inside knowledge but rather that they are less attached to mirroring the movements on the exchnages. If you want a bookie at the other end of that spectrum then Betfair punters seem unable to sneeze these days without Victor Chandler catching a cold. Hills and Ladbrokes are the only two books that will consistently offer prices bigger than the lay side on Betfair. On that basis I think they should be applauded whereas the others seem unwilling to be different from the market as a whole.
February 19, 2009 at 04:53 #211063The Ladbrokes-O’Brien "link" is such a widely perpetuated myth that is still being put about that it’s just not funny anymore; Mike Dillon has less of an idea than many about what is really what at Coolmore yet the legend lives on.
Irish Stamp is more on the right track.

load of rubbish, ladbrokes and hills are rubbish, firstly they dont take big bets i know this as i used to work in a small betting shop and if we took a big bet and wanted to lay say £300 off at 5/1 hills would put you on hold and come back and say you can have £150. i swear this is true, hopefully someone can back me up on this,
also while most betting companys offer you best price gaurenteed on every race hills and ladbrokes do it on selected races only, i have since stopped betting with them as they are a waste of time and rip off us punters.
you can never get a early price before 11.30am, this is so they can list there prices after the market revises after 11 and all the big money has been placed,. i could go on and on they are rubbish.
my advice open a bet365 account you get best price gaurenteed and lots of free bets.

February 19, 2009 at 07:31 #211077I dont know about ladbrokes and william hills kj as have never had that problem with them myself. However, I used to hear a lot of people talking about the bookies that wouldnt accept a decent bet off people who were good at hitting winners, and I used to think it was nonsense, because it just doesnt seem ethical at all.
Then betterbet (part of stan james i think) done the same thing to me, after what was just a lucky patch, and it was ridiculously low amounts i was allowed to put on. Like 4 quid and stuff. The swines.
February 19, 2009 at 14:15 #211098There’s no point in making generalisations about certain bookmakers. Different bookies have better odds for different races, on different days. Someone said use bet365, but a quick look tells us William Hill offer better odds for Cheltenham favs on the majority of races than 365 do, and i also know Hills have been doing best odds guaranteed recently.
I use oddschecker myself to see who has got the best price. I don’t show loyalty to any one bookmaker.

I suggest you have a look at the ‘Systems’ part of the forum, and how a once serious section has been transformed into a circus, and all in the space of a couple of days.
Then tell us a free-for-all is the best policy?February 19, 2009 at 16:48 #211127

I’ve said nothing about this thread, even contributed a couple of times. My point is clear if you’d care to read it again.
God knows what brought on the ‘ignoramus’ jibe though; do you have some sort of persecution complex?February 19, 2009 at 19:10 #211154

I can honestly say I had no idea of your previous history – remiss of me maybe, but I neither read or ingest everything everyone has to say on the forum. Any observations were based purely on the general tenor of your posts, and nothing more.
Maybe you should take things less personally, and maybe we should all concentrate on the real purpose of this board.
