Although he did include some horses that were omitted from the other pole ….like the champion hurdler.

They were 5 individual polls. Mine is 1 combined poll.

There are 8 groups in the World Cup. But there’s only 1 winner.

What has David Pipe done to justify a nomination for ‘Star Of 2006"?

They were 5 individual polls. Mine is 1 combined poll.

A "combined" poll that leavves out the runaway winner of our "horse of the year" poll.

    Any reason why?

Omg I can’t believe i forgot Ouija Board. Apologies!!!

I think David Pipe has done enough to justify a place tbh. He’s had an excellent season so far, racking up many big winners, and is still very young.

As much as I hate Our Vic for costing me and others so much money, I really think his 19/1 or so price on BF is the standout value bet for the GC right now.

I think I’ll vote for Hegehunter … lost all his in 2006, makes him a contender for star of the year for me.

    You what?

Can you list all of these "big winners" that Pipe has apparantly "racked up" for me, as apart from Our Vic beating a load of boats in the Charlie Hall I sure as hell can’t think of any.

Statistics show that this has been the worst start to a season by this stable in at least ten years especially during the summer (a period that this yard used to dominate) when the strike rate dropped to less than 8%.

I would suggest that the likes of Evan Williams, Alison Thorpe or Alan Swinbank (all who have built their operations up from virtually nothing) would be much more worthy of a nomination for this award.

    Hear hear.

It’s been a season of comparative underachievement for Team Pipe so far, and David Pipe himself said in one of the trade papers a few weeks ago that it’ll take a few years before he can be sure of getting his string as competitive (and prolific) at all levels as it was under his father’s tutelage.

All three of HJ’s suggestions are far more deserving of merit than Pipe Jnr, Jackane. Reconsider accordingly.

Welcome back, Jackane. Can we bury the hatchet now?
You know my vote for Star of the Year, but since it seems he’s not allowed to enter, not being English or Irish, Ouija gets it for getting to within 2 1/2 lengths of Him when He was not too far off his best.
How you can vote for George Washington, winner of 2 out of 5 and even in his best performance only a couple of lengths better than such ordinary horses as Araafa and Court Masterpiece beats me completely by the way.

    Thinking about your poll jackane.

I’d probably have Pride and Detroit City at the head of affairs with the DC just shading the star of the year due to his unbeaten record in 2006

trainers, jockeys ain’t stars imhaho btw, horses make both
