"Anyone doing form and/or time assessments should have taken this fundamental alteration into account"

    Pru,

I expect Timeform would have spotted it??<br>Superform, Racing Post and Sporting Life didn’t and haven’t.<br>Introduction was around 1987 if failing memory serves.

Time ratings only effected if you use weight carried and pounds per physical length but you told me last time they were all interchangeable – not! ;)

I think it was 1997. And the reason I think this was that I temporarily wasn’t handicapping at the time it came in and it did catch me unawares for a while when I returned. And anyway I asked a BHB handicapper to confirm that it was around this date some time last year and he did (I’m going to have to dig out the e-mail, as I’d hate to think my memory is failing even more than yours….;) )

Five pages on a controversial topic and not one post from Ian Davies.

Any undertakers in Basingstoke care to comment?

    Reet Hard

    Totally agree….

I also think you have to actually see the race (if possible too) to judge whether its an easy 2 lenghts or a hard driven one for instance

One of the reasons i like to stick to top class racing because the style and manner of victories are etched in the mind

UNDERRATED:<br>1. Jockey<br>2. "Good old-fashioned form"<br>2. Speed figures/Ratings<br>3. Time of year<br>4. Value- by this I mean backing horses you genuinely feel will place/win which are priced higher (in some cases much higher) than they should be.

    OVER-RATED-<br>1. Stable (not stable form)<br>2. Hype/talking horses
