Am going on holiday next june, but cant lay in the sun all day like girlfreind so where ever i can purchase a racing post abroad dictates where we go.Anyone been to a resort where you can buy one?
thanks RobOctober 12, 2009 at 21:02 #253055You should have put this in Bruce Millington’s Q&A.

I’d say you’d be wanting a week in Tramore.

Of the 64,317 copies that were sold on average in June 2009, 55,992 were sold in the UK, 7,850 in Ireland and 475 elsewhere. ‘Elsewhere’ gets the main edition, so whether it arrives before racing is anyone’s guess. [Time for someone from the Post to step in.]
Make sure you book the first week of June. The World Cup starts on the 11th.
October 13, 2009 at 11:43 #253127You`ll have to put up with the Sun daily in Europe and the Canaries ,but you can log in online in most places in the World and study form to your hearts content from the RP.
October 13, 2009 at 12:21 #253129Don’t go to Gibraltar – they don’t get Posts. As the man said, Tramore is nice that time of year . . .

Don’t know whether this helps or not as it’s been a while since I’ve seen them, but both Malta and Spain used to print their own, which was usually available around lunch-time the same day?
October 13, 2009 at 13:25 #253139west coast barbados, holetown, sandy lane hotel, (so I’m told) both have copies from 10.am
October 13, 2009 at 16:36 #253156Hi Rob,
Probably not what you would call a "resort", and the girlfriend might not get much sunbathing, but Ireland is a great place for a holiday. Racing Post is sold widely. Long weekend over the Guineas or long week taking in Champion Stakes and Leger/National Stakes is recommended.
October 13, 2009 at 20:49 #253199thanks for your input everyone,Tramore sounds great to me but i dare not suggest that.Sure i once saw the racing post in tenerife, anyway i rang the racing post and the bloke i spoke to mentioned Malaga, although he didnt sound too convincing.can anyone confirm that they sell them their? The search goes on.

Only 475 elsewhere
I think that’s amazing, how many must they print to sell so few abroad?
Probably could afford to sell it for 50p less here if they forgot about the overseas market.
Used to get The Sporting Life in Belgium & Italy in the 80’s but there was a premium on the price.October 14, 2009 at 00:17 #253237

….as a reprise from barry’s BF thread:
apart from UK and Ireland, there are some discrete legal jurisdictions in that part of the North Atlantic which technically would be "elsewhere":
Isle of Man (approx pop 76,000)
Jersey (87,000)
Guernsey (60,000)
Alderney (2,400)
Sark (600)might that explain the bulk of the 475 ?
a few years back, you could also get the RP at other airports within easy air-commute of London – eg Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam….
