The gnomes of Zurich, to supplant the gnnomes of Celtich, with an even smaller biscuit tin, would be my best guess.

It IS true what they say about Dalry’s Blair scheme’s residents !

I notice the cigar puffin’ wee Wullie did not make the "esteemed" selection panel’s short list for Scotland’s greatest team contenders.

I’ve read Henderson’s Biography. Of this he said about the comparisons made between him and Jimmy Johnstone.

"I considered myself a good player; international class – but wee Jimmy was world class".

We get his drift anyway. :D

I did think Willie Henderson should have make the short list but to compare him to Jinky is absurd

That’s from an impartial observer on the Celtic/Rangers spat but I’ve got a big smile on my face right now…..Caley sit top of the league tonight while our other local team, Ross County, humbled Hibs in midweek, Celtic are next….Tuechter’s rule OK!

    Re: Scotland’s greatest team.

Interesting. Yes I too am selecting a team. Differs slightly from yours – but I’m keeping it under wraps for now. :)

My greatest scotland team would be(in my opinion the best team…and not who had most caps etc)

    1.ANDY GORAM
    2.DANNY McGRAIN
    3.ERIC CALDOW
    4.RICHARD GOUGH
    5.BILLY McNEILL
    6.JIM BAXTER
    7.JIMMY JOHNSTONE
    8.BILLY BREMNER
    9.ALLY McCOIST
    10.DENIS LAW
    11.DAVIE COOPER

running them close to get in my 11 so are on my bench are LEIGHTON,MURDOCH,DALGLISH,HENDERSON,JORDAN,GEMMILL.

I think my team on form could put it up to the best of them.(granted some of the players were a bit before my time.)

raymo61, you are right, of course, Anyone, irrespective of nationality – and who knows anything at all about football – would realise that Kenny Dalglish is a shoo-in for the number one Scotland striker spot. The guy was different class – and I saw him play for Celtic many times long before Bob Paisley came sniffing.

Fat Ally couldn’t have laced his boots.

Yes very funny. Stewart Baxter’s name is the media in- joke up here. His name used to crop up all the time when the Celtic manager’s job became available. He still won’t get as much as an interview.

He’d do a good job I’m sure, he has done everywhere he’s been, I don’t get it???
He was offered the Aberdeen job a couple of years but turned it down as he didn’t think Stuart Milne’s ambition for the club matched his

Looks like you are right and I was wrong, CS.

It seems that Celtic FC ( in their infinite wisdom  ) are about to appoint the far travelled Baxter as mentor to Neil Lennon, who will be officially unveiled as the club’s new manager in the next few days. Baxter is currently contracted to the Finnish FA and has allegedly already met with Neil Lennon to discuss his role within the set-up.

It’ll be a strange marriage, in my opinion. :?

I’m not sure that he’ll accept the "joint/secondary" role with Neil Lennon, he’s very much his own man, takes no sh*t from anybody and with his record compared, to Neil Lennon’s, there can only be one "Gaffer"

I’m just pleased that our manager (Terry Butcher) hasn’t been head-hunted, :D Caley to make it into Europe next year

If Sol Campbell is the sort of signing he’s making and the teddy bear’s don’t have Kris Boyd’s goals my money is on Dundee United to at least split the Old Firm next season….I’d sign Naomi Campbell before I’d sign Sol

I’m not convinced Campbell will sign anyway, although he was at Celtic Park the other day having discussions with the club; I think he’s waiting to see if he receives any offers from a Premiership club. I also think Lennon wants him mainly for his experience and the knowledge he can pass on to his young defenders.

As for Dundee Utd splitting the Old Firm. I’ve heard it all before. Mind you, they will never have a better chance of doing so – but I can’t see it happening.

I really fancy Celtic strongly to win the SPL next season.
