What price should KS really have been sent off at yesterday in the King George? Examining the opposition:

Exotic Dancer – failed to beat KS on all previous encounters and no valid reason to expect him to do so here.
My Way De Solzen – Very disappointing on reappearance and existing chase form some way below this level.
Our Vic – yes, a winner, previously, on his seasonal debut but when was the last time such a horse won the King George?
Racing Demon – not good enough.
    Taranis – not good enough.
Hi Cloy – not good enough.

Anywhere around the 4/5 or 8/11 mark would seem, to me, to have been bordering on the generous and 4/6 hardly a stingy price, given the above. What do you think, though? As an apparent certainty (barring a fall), should he have started at an even shorter price.

And what about 13/8 for the Gold Cup? What other horses are around that justify an odds-against price? The Hennessey form is already starting to look a little flaky and whilst Denman was visually impressive on that day, wasn’t most of the field made up of horses for whom the conditions were hardly ideal – wrong trip or ground, etc.?

From my point of view, the price of Kauto yesterday was fair. 4/6 was a good price to be honest.
13/8 For the Gold Cup, the only danger is Denman and i think that Kauto can beat Denman in my eyes. Pace is one thing.
I think that the price for yesterday was considerably good from a punters point of view and i know that Kauto will be my bet for the gold cup :)

Yours and thousands and thousands like you Tony

I’m a huge fan of Kauto but he should have been 4/11 yesterday…….I think everyone would agree nothing out of Jonjo’s is raising a gallop just now so you could easily discard Exotic Dancer and nothing else in the race deserved even a mention including MWDS who I said before the race couldn’t blow wind up Kauto’s ass.

It was a bad race for a King George due to circumstances, but Kauto could have won by 20 lengths and irrespective of the opposition it was an awesome performance.

The fact remains that Hennessy winner Denman did the same again in a race that turned out not to be as hot as expected.

Everything could change tomorrow after the Lexus but right now I think Kauto should be as is for the gold cup………..odds on would be wrong while Denman is still an unknown factor.

It is the price of Denman it is wrong IMO and basically the bookies are extracting the urine and have been since Hennessy day.

Denman should be 7/2 in my book the 6/4 to 2/1 price tag was a joke. If he wins as expected tomorrow and I emphasize "if" then his price wont change much………but come Gold cup day you can expect him to drift out to anywhere between 3/1 to 9/2………he will not be 5/2 on the day as the bookies will take fortunes on Kauto and they will be looking to lay Denman big time.

Only my opinion for what it’s worth.
