Just been listening to some oldies. Are there any others worth listening to?
Long Tall Sally:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc92MbyO7wE
Sweet Nothin’s by Brenda Lee:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWgyum5fjJc
Just the way she hums before she repeats, ‘Sweet nothings’, entrances me. But when I try to concentrate on listening to her hummming, it doesn’t work as well. It’s only when it strikes me spontaneously, and I don’t strain my ears to catch it.
Della and the Dealer by Hoyt Axton:
Wonderfully quirky. Strangely genough I don’t think it made it to the top in the US.
Blueberry Hill by Fats Waller (on edit: aka Fats Domino – hat tip to Drone):

Manic Street Preachers – PCPMay 31, 2014 at 19:34 #480793I always thought the Delgados were American
For quite a few years I asked my kids to copy any music they thought I might like [rather than buying me Christmas and birthday presents] and one of my favourites was a Delgados album, but unfortunately my favourite track on it jumped so I stopped listening to it. I’ll dig it out and find out which song it was.May 31, 2014 at 20:39 #480798Fats Domino actually Grimes, stop misbehavin’

Fats Waller
Thanks, Drone! I found myself repeating to myself, ‘Fats Waller’, in a slightly puzzled way, as if on a dim, subliminal level I realised something wasn’t quite right.
Strange mistake to make. All I know about the other guy is that he was a jazz musician. Maybe a pianist.

Thanks for the clip. He could play a bit, couldn’t he!

Delgados co-frontperson Emma Pollock has also done a couple of spanking good solo albums,
Watch the Fireworks
and
The Law of Large Numbers
, should it interest.
I saw her tour the first of those when I was still living daan sarf seven years ago, and a fine evening’s entertainment it was.

Suspect they’ll be happy to have people concentrate on their music again, following their appearance (as guest-house owners) in the car-crash that was
The Harry Hill Movie
.
I think bassist Michelle Stoddart has released a nice solo album or two recently, IIRC?

Slightly better than The Harry Hill Movie, which I was forced to endure a few months back, I’m scarred………….
