Catchy song from the Peugeot advert…

July 9, 2013 at 09:03 #445185Smoking lyrics – not very PC! Seriously, very hard to improve a Simon And Garfunkel song. I like Marie Laforet’s ‘La Voix Du Silence’ but that is primarily due to it being sung in French – can’t really think of any others. ‘America’ seems a bit of a strange choice as a favourite – personally wouldn’t have it in a top 15.
July 9, 2013 at 11:12 #445200I have to say that this version was raved about on R6 but I think the harmonies are awful and it isn’t a song to tamper with. I thought if I heard it again I would change my mind but I didn’t.

Music, like racing, is a game of opinions and there is no reason why the opinion of Radio 6 should carry any more weight than your own. I only ‘discovered’ First Aid Kit about three years ‘late’ and having just got it this week think ‘Lion’s Roar’ is very good – I would suggest getting the Deluxe Edition for the three extra tracks which are amongst the best although my favourite is ‘I Found A Way’. As so often happens I don’t think the new record comes close.

They have some great songs and the videos are usually good too. This is my favourite of theirs:
July 9, 2013 at 14:48 #445223I see they have a new album coming out in a couple of weeks, their lyrics and music are so incredibly catchy. Can’t believe it took a car advert to find this awesome band.
July 9, 2013 at 15:39 #445228A friend downloaded a First Aid Kit album for me when I was going on holiday last year, and I was looking forward to listening to it but was disappointed that Wolf wasn’t on it
I found a lot of it rather slow but need to dig it out again and relisten. Over the past few months I haven’t stopped listening to Alt J although it always sends me to sleep and can only listen to it when I’m chilling out [not driving!]. Also Half Moon Run. And Alfa 9. I bought the latest Laura Marling after rave reviews but find that mind numbingly dull.

I’m listening to Kate Bush
August 2, 2013 at 18:21 #447387I’ve been listening to The Dreaming recently [was played on Radio 6 a few weeks back and got me listening to it again]. Very underrated and ahead of it’s time, wasn’t it?
August 2, 2013 at 20:38 #447406Yes Moe, a lot of fans weren’t sure what to make of it at first, but most have slowly come round to love it. To think she was only 23 when made this is quite staggering. Her first album where she had full production control and also the album that made the Yanks sit up and take notice. KB has always used some surprising choices for who she uses on her albums, like Stephen Fry and Lenny Henry. On this we have Rolph Harris and Percy Edwards

Good article here with some links to some tracks, including my faves off this in Sat in your lap and Suspended in Gaffa:
