Wouldn’t be that keen on their entire output, but this single from 2006 is still my favourite o’ theirs – and judging by the human trampoline which greeted it when I saw them at Latitude in 2008, it’s a lot of other people’s favourite as well;

Only just looked at this, and can scarcely believe that it is the same band that gave us ‘The Bay’ Big thumbs up for me.

BTW Mick managed to record a follow up to the remarkable "Dali’s Car" prior to succumbing to the ravages of cancer.
The EP is due for release any time now:
In the meantime here is one of the most moving pieces of music ever:

Ahhh, the sainted Mr Partridge and his merry men of Swindon! I like you. You can stay.

I’ve long since opined that this nugget of his from 1989 will be played at my wedding, should I ever have one;

July 2, 2011 at 21:05 #363321Was very taken with accoustic set that The Pieces did at Glastonbury last week; I’d also seen them on Later With Jools, only to be diappointed with the stuff they had on utube. Thought I’d risk buying the cd today, and like what I’ve heard so far. Also find the new Fleet Foxes is growing on me. Thought they were very good last week, but, on the whole found Glastonbury very disappointing this year. Bought the new Kaiser Chiefs today as well; I do like the Kaiser Chiefs. Nice to have a band around that don’t take themselves too seriously.

Four posts in nine years. You spread yourself a bit thin, Tarot. I shall have to check if your other three posts were as brilliant as the one above
July 10, 2011 at 10:33 #364148T in the Park last night..Chase and Status..thought they looked good at Glastonbury but they were amazing on the telly last night. The new Faithless, perhaps? The Pierces were on as well; looks like they have finally made it with the album going up the charts. May check out some of their earlier stuff as well. Are The Strokes just the coolest band on the planet?
July 11, 2011 at 22:57 #364341Mo, you should put some links up

July 20, 2011 at 21:04 #365308I did a computer course a few weeks ago Mr P but still haven’t worked out how to do links..hopefully my 4 year old grandson will be able to show me how to do it soon! Saw a fab programme about Dave Davies last week on BBC4; although I annoyingly missed the beginning. The Kinks were actually banned in America for being so subversive [songs about cross dressing perhaps? naughty naughty…]. Anyways, the reason I mention that is because the new Kaiser Chiefs is growing on me after initial disappointment..not as catchy as previous albums but obviously a ‘grower’. More complex than earlier offerings and rather retro. The link being [get that, link…] that I think they’re becoming the new Kinks. Link to follow…eventually……[don’t hold your breath].

Roam is good, yes. A great party band and Kate has a very good, distinctive voice.

I’ve seen the programme about Ray Davies on BB4 some time ago, Mo. Didn’t know that they had shown one featuring his brother Dave, but see that it was shown at 2.10 last Sunday- Dave Davies – Kinkdom Come. It’s sure to be repeated with it being BB4, so will make a point of catching it next time.
Very easy to copy a vid on here… Under what you’re watching left click on share, it will then be highlighted in blue. Right click on the blue and from the drop down list choose ‘copy’ All you have to do then is open the reply box on here and right click and choose ‘paste’ from the drop down. That’s it! Simples.
