    Can’t say I noticed a problem with his voice other than that the the vocals seemed to pause rather than flow

    but were still very powerful. I was thinking to myself how strange to be listening to the same voice after 40 plus years, even though the owner of the voice had changed beyond all recognition [tend to think that lean, wiry people stay lean and wiry]. The hall seemed to have a lot of men of a certain age with their sons; they fell into two categories…grey and bald or very very hairy [and grey];

    :lol: More or less my experience from last night’s performance in Glasgow. Pretty much the same sort of audience. The musicianship was great but ahhhh… those vocals and the damage done. Not good. :shock:

    My 21 year old daughter accompanied me. She hadn’t heard of Jethro Tull before last month. She listened to a few albums beforehand. She quite liked the music, but the concert itself – she was not impressed :? – and suggested that Ian Anderson was deluding himself and argued vehemently ( well, she is studying to be a teacher :mrgreen: ) that he was selling his audience short by failing to sing the songs "properly", as she put it.

    I have to say she has a point. It was sad to listen to the degenerative state of his singing. Still a brilliant flautist though.

    I listened to Eric Burdon yesterday and I think he will always be my favorite blues singer. There is so much power and feeling in his voice, even the good old slow songs like Good Times or San Franciscan nights are amazingly interpreted. There’s not much more I can say, he’s a living legend and he deserves this status.

    We were talking to someone last year who was at Art College with him; I think she told us that he only went into music because he was kicked out of college..not a bad career move,I guess.

    Changed my mind about the Yeasayer cd; it’s really grown on me and probably now prefer it to their last album. Have been watching a bit of Fishermans Friends on utube. Used to live in that part of the world and would love to go to Port Isaac and see them sing [although imo Boscastle was the singing ‘heart’ of Cornwall; oh how we used to let rip in The Cobweb after a few beers all those years ago; if utube had been in existence then we would’ve put on a show to remember].

    Just bought the new Laura Marling album; haven’t had a chance to listen to all of it, yet, but like what I’ve heard so far.

    Cheers for those Grays – hadn’t heard the second one for ages! :D
    The alubum that the Audrey Hall track was on (reggae hits) do you have any? – They are really good… :wink:

    One of the best openings (of a reggae track) and most sampled…
    They don’t make ’em like this anymore…

    "Himself – what’s your fav Bowie track? I like ‘Sorrow’ as one of mine…"

    My favourite all time Bowie track is Cygnet Commitee. 8)

    Re: "Sorrow" – from the Pin-Ups album. Although Bowie didn’t write this song ( Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein & Richard Goeteher, did ), it is , for me, the best version of all. The Merseys had a hit with it in the 60s.
