I know I’m grumpy at times but I’m full of the joys of spring today.
– It looks like it’s gonna be Queen’s Regulations in the 16 runner handicaps at Towcester tonight
– one for the good guys at Beverley: highest four draws filling the first four home in a handicap where 16 stood their ground
…and best of all Simon Rowlands’ column in the Post
– BANG Golden Penny e-w placed
–THWACK Excape wins
– KAPPOW Diriculous swoops home
– SKERPLAT ‘complaints that rule 4 deductions are unfair would carry more weight if inequities that work against punters were similarly acknowledged’May 20, 2008 at 16:58 #164572Did you notice that there were four non-runners in the first at Beverley?
I expect, but don’t know, that they all had vet certificates.
They were drawn 1-2-4-5!!!
Incidentally the horse that was drawn three ran well to finish second.

May 20, 2008 at 17:02 #164573I would comment but I genuinely fear that dark forces are gathered who are gonna use this sort of thing as an excuse to lower the field size limits there.
You can see it now – ‘we’ve eliminated the five lowest draws of the twenty stalls on health and safety grounds as horses allotted these stalls had an amazing propensity to fall ill on the morning of the race.’
