It’s a good thing this forum puts a little message: "Lasted edited by… at …" if anyone edits their own post. It would have been so tempting to alter that last paragraph.
March 4, 2013 at 21:01 #431329Listening to the radio this morning whilst driving to Exeter they were saying Arsenal have an easier run in then most, I haven’t checked who has to play who but plenty of games still to go.
Off topic, didn’t you come 2nd in last years Cheltenham Comp MV? I’ve been put in charge of this years and it started to remind me of all the drama cause by your great final day score and my miscalculations.

March 5, 2013 at 14:35 #431408There is time for Arsenal to get the necessary points. Time for Chelsea to implode under their unique approach of having all four segments of the club (owner, manager, players, fans) at each others throats all the time. Adequate time for Spurs to falter (Bale to lose form). Manchester City have looked on the edge for a while now, and all the negative pressure in that club could have an effect soon. It’s almost certain Arsenal will finish either second or third.
On the off-topic item. Yes, finishing second was a huge success for me; you can see from my post above my real abilities at tipping. At the time, you were the embodiment of what I often tell people in a business capacity. Things will go wrong, mistakes will be made, but it’s what you do about it that makes most impression on your customers. You handled it all excellently.
It helped me that a few people forgot that it was a points scoring competition rather than a winner finding one. A second at 12/1 was worth as many points as a 9/4 winner. Getting good priced horses placed, along with the hope that one or two of them would actually win seemed like a good strategy. That will not work on all occasions.
March 5, 2013 at 14:42 #431411Arsenal may well get 2nd or 3rd but points wise will still be nearer 5th than 1st……….

March 5, 2013 at 15:21 #431413Arsenal don’t have the toughest run in to the end of the season, Swansea and West Brom toughest of the away fixtures whilst at home they have United and Everton so only likely to get 3 points at best there (united fan ) so they will be hopeful but to be honest I don’t believe they will get top 4 and I have not done since the beginning.
I had a discussion with friend an Arsenal fan at the start of the season that I felt it was time for him to go and well, smugly, most of what I said has really happened. Funny thing is he was of the opposite opinion to I that United were more likely to drop out of the top 4 than Arsenal, ‘in Arsene we trust’ he spouted etc
The grass has grown under Wengers feet and he has sat idly by as the directors have failed to back him properly. They are a target club now, can’t protect their best players, sign an awful lot of average ones these days and players are using the club as a stepping stone or average players pick up far too big a pay check.
Style of football is not working, policy not working, time for a change. Wenger is a top manager but he does not get the backing at Arsenal, time is getting on for him now he should go and do everything to grab that Real Madrid job when Jose gets pushed off the plank where he will get backed.

Arsenal fans really are the most deluded out there. They sell all of their good players and don’t win a trophy in 7 (soon to be eight) seasons yet they still think they’re one of the best teams in the world.
What more proof do they want?!
Walcott is good but it’s become glaringly obvious he hasn’t/won’t hit the potential Arsenal thought he would.
Cazorla is a very good play maker, sort of like Mata but not quite as good and about 3 years older!
Oxlade is great against bad teams but once he comes up against a defense that’s organised and can deal with his pace he becomes lost.
Wilshire I’ll give them is very good but more injury prone than RVP and at this young of an age it doesn’t bode well for the future.
Ramsey is a good player too with great potential.
And their defense, well I don’t even need to comment on that, it’s more of a joke than the n0b that is will-i-am.
P.S – big up the Chels!!
Another P.S – Paddpower have Arsenal at 11/10 to finish outside he top 4, quite a nice bet.
May 20, 2013 at 15:18 #440175Just shows what you mugs know, never back against history and in the premier league there are only two certainties – Utd win it 2 out of every 3 years and both they and Arsenal always qualify for the CL.
We’ll see now if Fergie was any good or whether he was in one of those jobs a blind man could do.
May 20, 2013 at 17:29 #440189Days since teams won a trophy,
Chelsea 5 days
Wigan 9 days
Manchester United 14 days
Swansea 85 days
Manchester City 372 days
Liverpool 449 days
Birmingham City 813 days
Portsmouth 1829 days
Tottenham 1912 days
Arsenal 2921 daysBefore Fergie United went through a horrid 26 years without success, 26 years after Fergie they’ve won 49 trophies including 2 champions league and 13 titles. I’m a Liverpool fan but as much as it hurts I can admit Fergie was the greatest manager in the history of world football, including Paisley, Shanks and Mourinho.
There’s three certainties – United win 2/3 titles, Arsenal qualify for champions league and don’t win it, then win nothing domestically and charge the highest prices in world sport.

July 24, 2013 at 00:05 #446345The cheekiness of Wenger, he’s put a £40,000,001 bid in for Suarez triggering his release clause by just 100 pence.
July 24, 2013 at 11:28 #446367Arsenal originally offered the £40m + Marouane Chamakh for Suarez, but Liverpool said ‘no thanks, we’d prefer a quid’
This clause is only a trigger in which Liverpool have to inform Luis that a bid has been made. Doesn’t Suarez watch SkySports News?
Wenger is as dumb as they come as he only had to offer a penny over not a quid, Mrs Moneypenny could give him a few tips on super scrimpers.

Not as cheeky as Falcao knocking years of his age, Monaco paid £53 million for a near 30 year old.

It must be breaking your heart and addling your brains trying to decide what to do. Leap up and down with joy at the way your team are playing, the fact that they lead the Premier League, already have a win over Spurs, the fact of two good wins in the Champions League – at home to Napoli who are only two points off the top in Italy, and away to Marseille who are one point off the top in France. Or prostrate yourself on the floor and bite the carpet with frustration that Wenger is still at the helm.
Is Wenger a top class manager, or is he not? You are so lucky that he is your manager, and has not scuttled off to a better paid job on the continent. Drawing up a shortlist of managers who are better than he is, and would do it for the money he is paid, would be easy. It would be a blank piece of paper.
October 2, 2013 at 16:19 #453262The form reads a little like this
Arsenal – WWWWW
United – LMFAOCoincidence that since Ozil joined Arsenal have Improved stratospherically and Madrid have been a let down? Credit where it’s due but it doesn’t make up for a dreadful eight years at the office, funny how everyone jumped on Wengers back when they loose against Villa (who beat City). Arsenal have lost one game in their last 22, and after that lose there was apparently a ‘crisis’. They should be jumping on his back about not winning anything for eight years not loosing one game.
Ramsey’s a whole different player playing in his preferred position, how long will his form continue? Arsenal get a bargain in Ozil and Madrid blindly bought an overpriced monkey in a knee-jerk reaction to Neymar choosing Barca over Madrid.P.S Marginal Value – Wenger is the highest paid coach in the world at least at club level, he gets £7,000,000 a year… Don’t think he’d get that "on the continent".
