Glaia Des Liteaux 20/1
Stuzzikini 33sReally looking forward to this one, esp as my 3 anteposts have ‘stood their ground’.

December 26, 2024 at 19:00 #1716443My king George doubles of Grey Dawning, L’homme and IEF with Monbeg Genius have (agonisingly but fairly) failed to bear fruit.
But I’ve been backing Monbeg Genius from about September at all odds from 14’s.
Val Dancer, iwilldoit and iron bridge are others I’ll have small each way doubles on with the likes of della casa lunga at kempton and paddy o Mahler at wetherby.
Welsh national my favourite race of the year! Just amazing to watch. Real test of a horses will. Watching them drop off the back of the telly one by one just gets me going like no other race.
December 26, 2024 at 20:35 #1716448A horse I’ve always liked but not sure he stays well on his .ast outing he wasn’t his true self over further, The Newest One I’ve kept away as in heart over head but not sure

December 27, 2024 at 09:59 #1716503The mist/fog has descended here in BS34; Chepstow just over the bridge, guess it must be the same there.
December 27, 2024 at 10:22 #1716506Iwilldoit the only one of my initial fancies to line up, so I’ll have a go on him with a claimer worth every ounce of his 7lbs on board.
The Newest One has been fairly consistent and the stable is enjoying a good run. He’ll be my back up.
Have to go down the record books to find a smaller field in this. I can recall there being a small field in the 90’s (Indian Tonic’s year?), but nothing in recent years. I got as far as checking 2012 before my wife told me to stop being anti social while visiting the in-laws
December 27, 2024 at 10:58 #1716514Evies Vladimir.
The more I know the less I understand.
December 27, 2024 at 12:02 #1716519Gutted about Stuzzikini (33s) being withdrawn.
December 27, 2024 at 12:03 #1716520Iwilldoit for a repeat for me, with promising jockey’s allowance making him look fairly handicapped.
December 27, 2024 at 12:20 #1716523Just “watched” the first race at Chepstow. Doesn’t look like it’s going to be a memorable viewing.
December 27, 2024 at 12:30 #1716526Racing delayed.
Ironically, (re my earlier post), the mist/fog has cleared here.December 27, 2024 at 12:43 #1716530The best part of 4 miles on deep ground and hardly any of it will be visible.
Can’t wait…
December 27, 2024 at 12:51 #1716535Just ‘watched’ the 12.30 and saw the last couple of furlongs. But, i had the winner at 12/1.
It’s cleared quite a bit now over there. Our fog cleared 30 mins plus ago.December 27, 2024 at 12:52 #1716536With this fog I wonder if some jockey will do what Williams did back in the 70’s.
Pulled a horse up on the first circuit and joined in again on the second and won.Value Is EverythingDecember 27, 2024 at 13:09 #1716540When I was at Aintree yesterday, I had a look in the old weighing room. It is now a bar which also has a lot of Grand National memorabilia.
It seemed appropriate to see a photograph of Caughoo, the winner of the Grand National in 1947 at 100/1. I believe it was a foggy afternoon that day. Some people claimed the jockey either cut a corner or stopped on the first circuit, only to start again later and pretend he had completed the full course.
No one was able to prove some deception had occurred in those days before cameras were everywhere – but I suppose no one disproved it either!
Edit – apparently film has emerged to show he did complete the course.
