Unibet quick off the mark with a market here……..
https://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/ante-post-racing/national-hunt/welsh-grand-national/winner
I’ve no idea if this is the official entries, as it would be ahead of schedule, so I’ll certainly not be betting any of these right now.
Straight away the two which catch the eye are Give Me A Copper and White Moon from the Nicholls and Tizzard yards. Both could run first at Wincanton on Saturday, and not surprisingly, both near the head of the market for this.
They obviously represent yards which will have a strong hand in this, and both yards have plenty of others who could figure.
For Nicholls, I really like the idea of Secret Investor for this, while who knows what he might get out of his recent recruit, Yala Enki. The one he’s publicly touted for this though is Truckers Lodge.
Tizzard can call on the likes of Robinsfirtg, West Approach, Elegant Escape, and Mister Malarky. Mister Malarky in particular could be an obvious one here.
As usual, you would expect Trevor Henmings to have a strong hand here, and the likes of Lake View Lad, Vintage Clouds, and the very interesting Cloth Cap could give him a very strong hand indeed.
Jerrysback really interests me for JP, and he’d be my pick of his, though OK Corral is equally interesting.
Mulcahys Hill was a real eye catcher for this the other week, and 20’s looks a fair shout, while the forgotten Missed Approach could be on the way back.
I’d have to assume that this isn’t the official entries though, as although not many come over, you would expect more Irish entries. There are three listed who are crazy prices……
Borice 50’s
Discorama 40’s
Voix Du Reve 40’sIf only I knew they were going.
That last sentiment would also apply to the Skelton trained Molly The Dolly. Totally bonkers price at 50’s, and I would snap that up right now.
Wait and see job just now though.
Early shortlist
Give Me A Copper
White Moon
Cloth Cap
Mulcahys Hill
Jerrysback
Mister MalarkyMolly The Dolly not on the shortlist right now, as I’d have my doubts that this would be the target for her, but she’s the one I’m closest to betting.
Molly The Dolly 50’s
November 6, 2019 at 14:18 #1474212Bob, would it surprise you to hear that I fancy Cloth Cap for this.
I realise that I can’t just follow him blindly, so I will add Ramses De Teille as a fancy as well.
November 6, 2019 at 17:35 #1474230Entries can be made up to 19 November and the prices being offered look pretty skinny. Also for long odds horses the best prices have often been available on the day of the race. So as my fancy is an outsider I am going to hang on for a while.
November 6, 2019 at 19:34 #1474242Early days yet, so caution is advised before backing anything but like the looks of
CAPTAIN CATTISTOCK trained by Paul Nicholls would prefer it soft.
TALKISCHEAP trained by Alan King is an out and out stayer, who might be using this for a crack at the National at Aintree
The best things in life are free.
But you can give them to the birds and bees.November 6, 2019 at 20:35 #1474248I have liked Carole’s Destrier for this for most of the year. I would love to see Neil Mulholland send him here again.
November 20, 2019 at 19:53 #1475417Entries…..

Very pleased I didn’t have an early play in this. I’ll hold fire for now.
November 21, 2019 at 13:19 #1475444Not a bad run from Mala Beach there at Thurles, and for being a former Troytown Winner, not too long ago, he’s interesting here at 40’s.
Looking through the entries, at this stage anyway, not that pulling me in.
Mala Beach certainly on the list now, but I think that the best priced is Yala Enki at 20’s. Now with Nicholls and only a pound higher for placing last year.
Having lost Yala Enki, Venetia Williams still looks to have interesting ones in Commodore and the Hemmings owned Burtons Well, and the other Hemmings pair, Lake View Lad and Vintage Clouds, look obvious, but possibly overpriced contenders.
I think it’s interesting that Ramses Des Teilles doesn’t get an entry, and I wonder just how highly the yard rate the chances of the recently rejuvenated Daklondike.
I’ll stick Native River in there as well.
Best thing about not playing early, is you get to chop and change the shortlist, but for now from that lot, I’d have Yala Enki and Daklondike bear the head of the list.
November 21, 2019 at 16:24 #1475461I liked Now Mcginty for this off 144 before his Sandown run but bet365 had no prices up. I thought it was just a spin round get beat 20 lengths ready for this. To my horror he nearly beats Santini and I thought that’s the end of that he will go up 10 pounds plus for that better look elsewhere. Fortunately, handicapper put him just 3 so am on at 14s.
November 26, 2019 at 12:35 #1475919Added Native River 12s
November 26, 2019 at 19:12 #1475950if native river runs he wins but I do think jerrysback has a big one in him this season.
November 28, 2019 at 23:10 #1476057Coops I know you haven’t said you were betting him, but just in case you take that 25’s for Jerrysback, he’s still in some lists by mistake, and didn’t get an entry. Looking forward to him if he runs Saturday though.
Still really keen on Yala Enki here, despite totally missing the 20’s, but a big run on Saturday, which is a real possibility, would surely affect his chance here. Same applies to Daklondike of course.
November 30, 2019 at 15:24 #1476236Added Elegant Escape 14-1
November 30, 2019 at 15:43 #1476240Mike, if Tizz has even one-third a brain he will surely give Elegant Escape a long rest after today and a quiet prep for April
November 30, 2019 at 15:46 #1476241Mike if I could I’d put slippers on him , stick him under a duvet with a nice cup of cocoa
November 30, 2019 at 16:06 #1476243He has a good chance of winning this with Native River running. Means he won’t be top weight. So strike whilst iron is hot. He may not handle the Aintree fences anyway even though I’m on him for that too at the moment.
November 30, 2019 at 17:40 #1476250I’ve got both native and elegant backed for the gn at nice prices , keeping the fingers crossed
December 2, 2019 at 20:12 #1476404Finally bet one here, West Approach looks too big at 20’s.
If Native River went, it would give him a smashing weight, and I think he’s better than a 20-1 shot. Obvious concern that Robbie Power will be at Leapordstown, but at that price, he’s worth an early play.
West Approach 20’s EW 5 Places
