The decision to go over to the recorded rugby match was disgraceful.
According to my newspaper, Arc day coverage was due to start at 12.30, but when I switched on they’d replaced the first 30 minutes by an old Fred Dibnah programme, and the racing broadcast didn’t start until 1.00.
So, why didn’t the BBC show the rugby highlights before the racing? There might even have been time to show the Cadran as well.
The fprogramme after the rugby was a lot of blokes looking at football on their monitors, but the viewers didn’t get to see any of it! – surely that should be on radio rather than television.
Regarding Rishi’s remark comparing Kingsgate Native with Hamilton, that was really cringe-making.
October 8, 2007 at 18:44 #118562No way the BBC could have been expected to stay on air indefinitely imo. Also they were due to show the Cadaran, which was originally going to be run at 12.45 but the race order was changed and the first race was just a handicap.
October 8, 2007 at 19:19 #118569How ironic only 20 seconds after Loughran correctly stated "This is drama of the highest order, Dylan Thomas could lose this", Balding said "Goodbye, here’s the rugby".
Would they have gone over to recorded rugby before the penalty shoot out in an important football cup final
Just further proof if it was needed at their total lack of commitment to the sport.
