Very briefly , i think all these horses have a bit more in the hand & hopefully can defie their h’cap marks, sure i take a bit of a chance before a pony has proved it can go @ a paticular distance , going etc, but thats where the value can lie imo…..All EW unless price is too short

    York
1.45 Leo’s Luckyman
5.10 Guto

    Hamilton
4.20 Bryon Bay

    Folkestone
6.45 Deira

    Kempton
9.20 Jomus NAP if there is such a thing

Surely racing ponies against horses is just cruel.

hi market man – according to forecast expecting quite bit rain – this makes very tricky especially if it turns heavy-like the old question the horse goes on soft but does it go on heavy…..

Yes Market Man, I do. On soft ground at York, unless the horse was proven there, I would lay anything that short!

Yes, I do Market Man. By Shamdala maybe. Or the Italian rather than by the three year olds.

Alexandrova looks good, and maybe she IS good, but what has she beaten? Rising Cross may have had excuses but was still stone last against older fillies and mares at Arlington ten days ago.

Until we know that the 3yo fillies are anything other than average, Shamdala looks a decent price here at 6-1+. Im not sure many in this field would have been able to run as well as she did against colts in Hong Kong (when finishing ahead of Westerner et al). She also will definitely handle the ground.

Can’t have the Italian horse though – just doesnt look good enough to these eyes.

I think your being kind TDK since average would make them ok. Im strongly of the opinion that they are mostly poor going on rubbish but that remains to be seen.

And the three year old colts, Sir Harry?

With 4 wins in 27 over past two weeks, could it be that ballydoyle is a bit out of form? Alex could not have been more impressive thus far of course, but soft ground at york is not ideal for those that like to grab a race with strong turn of foot.

Its true that shes beaten nothing worthwhile too. Scottish Stage hardly advertised the Irish Oaks form at Goodwood

I liked the way Allegretto grabbed the race by the scruff of the neck at Haydock. That style is more likely to suit this race and seems to be expected that she could improve on this groud
"this course" perhaps what I meant

Didn’t Short Skirt beat Alexandrova in the Musidora over this course on soft ground? Admittedly Alex looks as if she has improved since that run, but I wouldn’t be suprised to see Short Skirt close to her this afternoon.
With regard to the merits of the generations, check out the result of the Group 2 fillies and mares race at Deauville on Aug 6th, the Prix De Pomone.

Nine runners, four 4-y-olds, five 3-y-olds including Time On and Quenched (Nmkt Listed winner prev start) – the 4-y-olds filled the first four places, the 3-y-olds the last five.

I’d be with Shamdala to beat the younger fillies at the prices.
