    Some character called Nick Craven described as “Communications Director” at Weatherbys just stated on C4 (interviewed by Timeform Jim McGrath) that: “the Darley Arabian…you would probably look at him as being the sort of father of them all, for no other reason than the fact that he sired Eclipse”.

    Oh, I may as well throw out the book by Nicholas Clee called “Eclipse” then. In it he claimed, obviously incorrectly, that Eclipse was sired by Marske. I mean, the Communications Director at Weatherbys is surely right.

    To be fair, he was only three generations out.
