With apologies to The Daily Mash:
The war of words between Paul Struthers and Ralph Topping heated up last night, as Struthers threatened to occupy William Hills’ Shaftesury Avenue LBO.
"I finally snapped after watching Jeremy Paxman call all these offshore tax avoiders cnuts on Newsnight. I heartily agree, it’s time take to the streets", claimed Struthers, revealing that his initial UKUncut-inspired plan, to get all racing’s leaders to make the short trip to the LBO, with placards and ‘close the tax loopholes’ stickers in hand, had fallen flat. "Sadly they weren’t available as they’ve all been holed up in the Cayman Islands for the last 15 years, leaving their begging messages to play on infinite loop. There’s only me here these days"
"I’m now planning on going there to confront Topping’s mob with my mates from West Ham’s Inter City Firm instead. I’m not saying there’ll be trouble, but let’s just say those FOBT screens aren’t made of the most durable material."
Explaing his reasoning, Struthers claimed: "One must consider the amount of tax and levy lost through Hills exploiting the loophole of moving offshore, as well as how that Gooner slag Topping will eat his dinner with no ******* teeth."
Speaking from Canary Wharf, where he has moonlighted as a journalist for the last five years, providing the Racing Post with the majority of its copy, CEO Topping said: "Mr Struthers’ behaviour in this affair has been absolutely unacceptable as he will undoubtedly get the filth sniffing around before things can get proper handy.
"All I would say is me and him, no tools, winner gets to determine the next levy – if he’s got the ******* stones."
February 3, 2011 at 22:28 #338960I not a fan of the BHA. But Paul Struthers is really earning his corn and whether he is right or wrong at least he is showing a bit of bite for racing.
I am currently writing a thesis on offshore taxation avoidance in Ireland and struthers is right the way this lads work in the cayman island. Their is 18000+ companies located at one address for heavens sake.
February 4, 2011 at 00:28 #338970I’m not sure Struthers actually said the above. I may have made it up.
You’re right about the Cayman Islands though. I see Paul Roy’s company is partially based there:
NewSmith Capital (Cayman) Limited. PO Box 309. South Church Street. Grand Cayman KY1-1104.
That office must be awfully cramped, what with it only being a PO Box shared with hundreds of others.
For such a small island it has produced an awful lot of tubthumping Rabble rulers demanding everyone else pays more levy.
