Had the most awful fall at Ffos Las yesterday. I was amazed when the field came round again that he was on his feet. It was reported that he had been taken off in the horse ambulance. Sadly, he was badly injured and his trainer confirms that he did not survive. Poor lad.
November 11, 2013 at 20:45 #458033Thanks for that info. I was listening to it on the radio and it sounded awful. I did hope that I was wrong as they didn’t miss out that fence next time round, but it wasn’t to be. He didn’t jump the first fence very well, either; I wonder if he hurt himself then? Poor horse. RIP. Was the jockey ok?
November 12, 2013 at 10:17 #458076I too was happy to see that they didn’t omit the fence next time round. I didn’t spot Walcot Lathyrus anywhere so assumed he was OK. There have been some horrible falls in the last week, real cartwheelers, but most of the horses survived.
RIP poor boy
November 12, 2013 at 14:14 #458093Oh damn, I was hoping for better news as he was standing up when they came round again. RIP, Walcot Lythurus.

Actually they did miss out the 3rd last fence because of his fall even though he was on the inside track when they bypassed it.
November 12, 2013 at 20:13 #458121You are right BG, I’ve watched the replay again now and do remember it. I think at the time I was just glad to see that there was no horse behind the dreaded screens as the field went past again.
November 13, 2013 at 14:35 #458174What a shame … he was a decent point-to-pointer and I saw him run several times. RIP
