Involved at the request of the horse-nappers, as I recall, he flew to Ireland and the following day received a call at 1am from someone claiming to speak for the abductors.
He did his best to keep the chap talking, thinking this would aid tracing of the call.
Sadly it wasn’t to be –  the Irish police later explained that "the man who does the tracing goes off duty at midnight".
