I don’t know if any theories have been mooted for the wonderful form of Lucinda Russell. I see her main base is around 120 metres above sea level so perhaps not quite high enough.
February 11, 2026 at 14:09 #1754261Just checking Venetia’s latest numbers. 119 ran in last 6 months: 7 winners, last one was in mid December at Cheltenham.
The old saying that good horses make good jockeys should also apply to trainers. Perhaps adapt to Good Healthy Horses. In the eyes of the public, a genius last season can be a dunce a few months later.
(a quick look at Lucinda finds 1 winner from her last 66 runners).
February 11, 2026 at 20:57 #1754321Problem with most of Lucinda Russell’s runners in recent weeks is that they haven’t been seeing out their races, a lot of ‘weakened’ in the race comments. Two or three fair performances at Musselburgh weekend fixture, but nothing much outside Class 5 since. Below par across the board, so nothing that can be tied to either the Arlary or South Kilduff yards.
February 11, 2026 at 23:19 #1754333Adam Nicol has got a 50% strike rate over the past two weeks and he literally trains at sea level on the beach. ( mind you he doesn’t have many runners!)

Rebecca Curtis’ horses love a wee dip and she’s 1 from 2 over the fortnight. Maybe the salt air negates the lack of altitude.
February 12, 2026 at 11:21 #1754347Adams horses go in the sea every day. They have a great life. Lady Buttons is living with them and is quite the show horse these days.
February 12, 2026 at 19:14 #1754379Rummy wouldn’t have won the national without Southport beach
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 14, 2026 at 15:03 #1754720At last – a winner! Jeu D’Opale lands the 2.50 at Wincanton.
I bet the stable will be much relieved about that.
February 14, 2026 at 16:56 #1754768That was post number 6,000 for you Gladders and you found the Venetia thread to do that. Are you stalking me?
Well, Charlie Deutsch has had two Chase winners for the stable today. Nice job and despite the lack of form, he was able to ride a lot of horses in the place money.
February 15, 2026 at 10:06 #1754815Good day for Herefordshire yards with Lacey and Symonds landing good prizes as well as Venetia coming in from the cold.
February 18, 2026 at 16:38 #1755133Two more winners at Ludlow today… Horses are well handicapped.
February 18, 2026 at 18:17 #1755143A treble, in fact!
February 19, 2026 at 17:55 #1755224Must have been equalling as galling that her horses were so out of form during a period where ground conditions were tailor made for the vast majority of her horses.
Nice to see the winners starting to flow again and as Ruby said, her horses are well handicapped for not only the remainder of the season but also possibly for next season too.
February 19, 2026 at 18:31 #1755228Trouble is now that most folk are so senstitive to her stats that everything will be overbet.
March 11, 2026 at 16:50 #1758626Great result today for her
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 11, 2026 at 17:12 #1758645Indeed. I thought that Martator hadn’t quite got there. Must admit, welled up on listening to their (Deutsch and then Venetia) interviews. What a sport!
March 11, 2026 at 17:14 #1758647It’s been a tough winter for them , proof if you keep working away then you’ll get your reward
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
