I see your windy Eyton-on-Severn, and raise you a storm-lashed Ystradowen (or more or less any other South Wales pointing venue, come to that)!
Jeremy
(graysonscolumn)I think you have me trumped there Jeremy – and like my namesake, I may just have to graciously accept defeat.

And I’ll slam both of you with Mosshouses in the rain. Larkhill takes a bit of beating for freezing, though and I went at the end of May!!.
Mention of cross Country races. Not all of them are over jumps. Go on the Market Weighton website for news of The Kiplingcotes Derby a flat race over four and a halfmiles in the Yorkshire Wolds. Reckoned to go back to 16th Century.
October 17, 2008 at 14:09 #185102…and go to http://www.wicstun.com/derbyarchive.html for the full results of the last 15 or so runnings, with data supplied by Chris “A Long Time Gone” Pitt. Looks like there have been a few former Rules runners trying their luck in the race in recent times – Snowfire Chap’s name leaped out at me straight away.

October 17, 2008 at 16:13 #185117at the mention of Chris who puts so much into racing, can I just mention the Midlands Racing Club that he runs along with a few others; our numbers seem to be dwindling but our preview evenings in Birmingham are really worth going to [you don’t have to be a member to go to them]
October 17, 2008 at 19:12 #185136I was there when Decent Fellow won two years ago.
An absolutely awesome experience, I’d recommend that any jumps fan who hasn’t been already makes the trip – coupled with a few days’ sightseeing and boozing in Prague it’s a fantastic holiday.
Hey I was there that year it was a fantastic weekend.
I couldn’t believe how cheap everything was. Stew and dumplings 60p you can’t get a soggy salmonella burger at Aintree for less than a fiver these days.
But your’e right BennyB it is an ‘awesome experience’.
