have been using half a length per furlong as a mark of a good performance butat longer distances there are to many qualifiers may take it back to 0.25 lengths per furlong vdw used 2 lengths across the board what about the other systemites
On the face of it, using 2lengths for every distance would lead to underestimating the relative value of, say a 1 length win in a 5 furlong race as opposed to a similar margin win in a 3 mile chase. Presumably, that’s why the traditional lbs per length measurement also changes with distance.
