He’s on a mark that would see him comfortably into The Kim Muir, but I just like the idea of this race for Latitude.
Admittedly just been “ok” so far, but he’s just a horse I like, and enough to get him added to this. Was surprised at the 66’s, so happily took that. Could look really daft if he bombs out today, but my hands were tied at the odds.
Goes without saying that I’ve got a sta k more on my mind. I’d ignore the run a couple of weeks ago from Broadway Boy, and thought 16’s fair.
Remastered has been brutal the last thirteen months, but I reckon Pipe is good at getting him ready for one big target, and I genuinely think he could bounce back here. One more run to shave a couple of pounds off would be ideal. 50’s nearly tempted me, but I’d like to see him once more beforehand, and his run in this does worry just a bit maybe. He’s into proper veteran stages, but I could also make a case for Ramses De Teille (who could definitely go Kim Muir)
Two horse who haven’t been seen for a while are Midnight River and Hometown Boy. Both I’d like for this. Midnight River at Newbury was my biggest Antepost of the season so far, and I was very keen. Assuming all is well after his fall, he’s surely going to go here (I like him for Aintree too) I’d like to see an update on Hometown Boy too. Very long layoff, before an excellent comeback at Carlisle. I think he’s perfect for this
Latitude for now though
Latitude 66’s EW 5Pls
Cashed out. Small loss. Every intention of betting him again. I’ll wait till he gets an entry first, and bet him NRNB
January 27, 2024 at 21:52 #1678918Ok, I’m just going to say this because nobody else seems to be talking about it…
Corbetts Cross?
What mark do we reckon he could get in on with a low key ride next week?
January 27, 2024 at 22:27 #1678922The Goffer and The Changing Man are the two on my radar for this.
The Goffer was a gallant fourth past year and the form could hardly have worked out any better. This is a race that pays to follow horses who ran well the previous year too. 16s.
The Changing Man’s early season form looks smart. His last run was poor but may have been with his handicap mark in mind. That said, he’s been dropped to a mark 1lb below last season’s bottom weight which is a concern. Tizzard namechecked the race in his early season stable tour though so i would fancy he’ll be aimed here. 25s.

January 29, 2024 at 21:51 #1679085Tom, I’m with you, Corbetts Cross is the one on my mind for this, and I’ve taken 16/1 now
February 8, 2024 at 00:15 #1680307I’m lucky enough to own a share in Apple Away, and the Ultima is now under serious consideration for her.
Now, I must stress that I’m against this, and would sooner miss Cheltenham and go to Aintree fresh for the 3 mile Manifesto Novice Chase.
However, I think Scu is looking at her current rating of 141 and comparing her to when Corach Rambler won off 140 as a novice in 2022. Apple has only had 3 runs over fences, but will run on Sunday at Exeter in a Mares listed Chase against experienced Mares or the Reynoldstown the week after at Ascot. A win would blow her handicap mark though. In comparison Corach had had 5 runs in 2022, the final being an unseat 4 out in the Reynoldstown.
She is also entered in the Brown Advisory (Lucinda’s choice but Scu’s last resort) and the NH Chase, and may get a Mares Chase entry. Of these I feel that the NH Chase would suit her best as all she does is gallop, as she showed when winning the Sefton Novices Hurdle at the National meeting last year beating 2 Cheltenham winners.
For the record Scu has been in love with Apple since they bought her, and he goes really gooey over her in the update videos.
Very nervous every time she runs…February 21, 2024 at 15:17 #1681967Giovinco 16-1 ew 5 places nrnb
February 28, 2024 at 21:13 #1682911EMPIRE STEEL @ 40/1
Won nicely over shorter trip after wind surgery, could see another dose of improvement for this.
February 29, 2024 at 00:34 #1682923I think Empire Steel will probably go for the Premier Chase at Kelso on Saturday instead, Chivers.
Is an absolute Kelso specialist.Value Is EverythingFebruary 29, 2024 at 06:08 #1682936That is likely but a couple of quotes from the trainer confirmed that they are not ruling the festival out for the Kelso King just yet.
February 29, 2024 at 19:25 #1682979Empire Steel has skipped the Premier Chase, so presumably goes straight for the Ultima.
Value Is EverythingMarch 1, 2024 at 00:29 #1683003I’ve joined you Chivers. I suspect that he’ll find a couple too good, but at 40’s, I’m thinking he’s worth taking a chance on.
Unusual for me, but I’ll also go at some point with market leader. The Goffer’s a horse I’ve been following for a couple of years now, and great to see his profile grow.
I’ve bet both of them for Aintree, with The Goffer my main fancy for that, but hopefully both can prep well here. I’m taking the chance that I can beat 8’s The Goffer on the day. If I see money before then I might change my mind
Empire Steel 40’s NRNB
Meetingofthewaters
The GofferEmpire Steel not declared, so NRNB kicks in.
It’s an approach I don’t like in this, siding with Fav’s, but as Meetingofthewaters and The Goffer are both Notebook horses, I’ll have to make a big decision on them.
I’ll definitely cover an outsider, and looking at Kitty’s Light, Cloudy Glen, and Lord Du Mesnil
I really like Dom of Mary, but I just wonder if this would be too tough, and I do have him in mind for Scottish National
March 7, 2024 at 21:49 #1683920Two fancies so far for me at the moment. Both with different profiles. Chianti Classico is improving all the time and might be a graded horse for the future. Also had to add Lord du Mesnil. He is 11 years old, but I think Vintage Clouds won it as a 11 year old. He does have quite a good Cheltenham record, finished second in the National Hunt Chase and last year he ended up second in two handicap chases at Cheltenham. Despite that he is now at his lowest mark in years. Surely must have an EW-chance.
I think I will add Busselton too if he will be declared.
Chianti Classico 11/1
Lord du Mesnil 50/1 EWMarch 9, 2024 at 16:39 #1684232Decided to go with two of my outsiders just now. You’ll hear me cursing if Cloudy Glen wins.
Lord Du Mesnil will be topped up EW if he gets in, while I can see potential trading opportunity with Kitty’s Light. I just think that 33’s is huge. Can see him being popular.
If I get that trading opportunity, could easily see me adding Cloudy, or the two market leaders.
Im hoping to bet Meetingofthewaters at Fairyhouse, but he seems Aintree bound, while a win for The Goffer would give me a chance to tidy up my National Bets, as he’s my biggest bet in that. With that line of thinking, he could be the one to make way
Kitty’s Light 33’s NRNB
Lord Du Mesnil 50’s NRNBMarch 10, 2024 at 14:56 #1684375Trelawne is a fairly confident win bet at 10-1, while my ew is the forgotten horse Eklat De Rire at 33-1
March 10, 2024 at 19:30 #1684421I was looking at Trelawne and liking what I saw Jeff but got put off by David Bass choosing Chianti over him, saying he was a bit of a tricky customer.
I see GEVREY has a few P’s to his name in recent times but was a winner at Limerick in October, a course he is 3-3.
I thought his run in the plate last year was very eye-catching, finishing with a flourish.
The race is a bit meh so I’ll take a chance.GEVREY 33/1
