Anyone know where we will see Twice Over next?
Will he be ready for the St James Palace?

Value Is EverythingMay 23, 2008 at 13:18 #164949Twice Over’s blood wasn’t quite right after his race in the Dante and connections have said that the Derby still remains very much doubtful so I imagine he will go for the St James Palace depending on his well being.

Edit — Henry Cecil stated today on RUK that Twice Over is over his health problem and the St James Palace is most likely to be his next race.
May 23, 2008 at 20:17 #164987Obviously Henry is the professional and i’m just an amateur guesser but if Twice Over is over his blood problem, I think The Derby should be his next race. He’s already proved he’s good over ten furlongs and to my eye looked to be staying on at York in the Dante. Can’t see him being at his best at a mile.

Completely agree. Seems odd that the Derby was the target after he missed the Guineas for it then after a "health problem" he’s suddenly dropping back to a mile.
I’d be inclined to send him to Epsom with a nothing to lose attitude. After the horse’s defeat at York the pressure is off somewhat yet if there was a genuine health reason for his defeat there’s surely no reason to suddenly rule him out as a Derby horse.
Am I missing something?

The Triumph Hurdfle mate sick telling you he’s no more than good on the flat will probably end up with Alan King next season
May 26, 2008 at 08:57 #165394I can’t get my head around the thinking with Twice Over.
Imo, all things being equal, Twice Over ran faster in the Dante than he did in the Zetland stakes at Newmarket. In fairness he should have, he was a year older, it’s an easier track, ground etc…but to deduce from the Dante run, that he didn’t stay, I find quite bizarre.
I’m of the same thinking as Librettist & Flash, when they found a possible reason for his 3rd in the Dante, it’s a shame they didn’t just press on with the original plan. He may not have stayed 12f, but he may prove to be quite versitile. Imo, his win in the Craven is still the best mile time of the year, but whether he’ll beat Henrythenavigator at Ascot over a mile on fast ground?.
