Anyone get on at a good price? Lucky Cattermole wasn’t on commentry…
December 30, 2007 at 20:39 #132493not in running but i got slightly better than 11/10 just before the off and apart from a couple of iffy jumps i never thought the result was in doubt
December 30, 2007 at 20:42 #132497He’s an absolute nut case he’s certainly not worth risking any significant money on. For most of the race he looked like he’d finish at least a fence behind thenm all of a sudden just when I thought "he’ll be pulled up in a minute" he decides he wants to know again and picks up Dictum in no time.
Looks like the Grand National would be ideal for him and he’s probably one of those horses that will either love / loathe those fences.
December 30, 2007 at 20:48 #132500I had a hefty bet on Dictum pre race but had some insurance on the old dog at 22 in play ~ I was too slow (or possibly too fast) to get the 55. All in all a pleasing result, especially with Labelthou coming back unscathed from a horrible fall.
December 30, 2007 at 20:54 #132501I had a good size bet on him for me(£75 win)at evens…then when he looked like downing tools.he was 40/1 and a couple of other stupid prices so i had 3 £2 bets!!!!!

But then got super cocky and laid Coe
!!!!!!Could see me going back to placepotting!

I was thinking the self same thing as he "went" round this afternoon – clearly a horse with the equine equivalent of ADHD, for whom the "ooh look, a squirrel!!" variety of the National will be either just the tonic or just the thing to scramble his brains forever.

December 30, 2007 at 21:16 #132510I blame Dobbin.

December 30, 2007 at 21:18 #132512I think he’d hate it and tail himself off on the first circuit. A dreadful creature that was flattered in last year’s Gold Cup.
December 30, 2007 at 21:21 #132513Spoken like a true Timeformer, DJ – y’all didn’t give him that squiggle just for decoration!

December 30, 2007 at 21:36 #132518Just a thought..take him over to France and Ireland and run him in all the cross country races.
That would sort him out he wouldnt know what was coming next.
As for the national, not sure hes smart enough to know if he likes it or not so chances are he would pull himself up.
December 30, 2007 at 22:12 #132529I lost money on him in the Hennassy the other year, after a very tame performance indeed. Next outing, he goes and finishes 3rd in the Gold Cup.
December 30, 2007 at 22:15 #132531i’ll not be backing him again that’s for sure
December 30, 2007 at 23:02 #132543Could only half-watch the race as I was meant to be working, but it looked to me as though he was a little outpaced as well as disinterested, and after the other two cut their throats (Labelthou looked very tired after her fall and Dictum wasn’t going fast enough to jump the last even if he had wanted to!) it was TG’s stamina which got him back in and eventually turned it into a procession.
Looks like he needs a trip, a stones’ drop in the handicap and a boot up the ar$e to me. Although I don’t think the GN is the answer, one altercation with one of the big fences and he looks the sort to down tools without any hesitation. - AuthorPosts
