No Slade Steel, but a decent collection. I would have thought a quicker track should suit Mystical Power, but that might be tempered a little by the ground. I can’t really see why Dysart Enos is 5/1 and Golden Ace 12/1. People seem to be imagining that Dysart Enos would have won at Cheltenham, whereas Golden Ace actually did. That’s quite a big difference. The negative for Golden Ace is her jumping, but her speed might be as good as any of these. Similarly to Mystical Power, conditions may take the edge off that advantage.

I think GOLDEN ACE is a good price at 12/1 to have a crack at, so I have had a small bet. A turn of foot like she showed at Cheltenham could be a gift. Hard to compare the mares with the geldings in novice company, they could be nowhere near good enough to compete with the Supreme 2nd and 3rd.
Jade De Grugy winning at Fairyhouse adds a nice little boost though. DYSART ENOS is a terrible price at 5/1 in my opinion and when Paddy Brennan was asked by Lucky what his best chance for a winner was, she wasn’t mentioned.

FIREFOX for me – didn’t have the best of runs in the Supreme. Not saying he’d have won or even finished second but would have been much closer to MYSTICAL POWER.

Race very much diminished by Golden Ace and Dysart Enos being pulled. Golden Ace injury, but Dysart Enos taken out because of the ground. It wasn’t that bad yesterday.

Put my £1 free bet from Paddys on the unimaginative tricast of Mystical Power/ Firefox/ Mistergif

Boylesports are doing their free bet if 2nd to the SP fav, so if you have that concession, Firefox looks a good bet.

Done Mistergif to win the most @ 10.7 after reductions.
Done Mystical Power too, sadly at a fraction of odds-on after reductions.

So Mystical Power won, but I think we can see why he didn’t end up at Aidan’s…….doesn’t seem to have much speed.

Mystical Power has plenty of speed, he just does not want to show it once in front. Idled at Cheltenham after showing his turn of foot to get there. Then outstayed. Was on the inside and had to make his move otherwise would’ve risked being blocked in. Got to the front today and idled again.

Has an action that should be a lot better on a sounder surface too.

He’ll be next seasons County Hurdle favourite rather than a Champion Hurdle contender I reckon. Miles off it when he goes into graded open company
